I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.

Re: Internal Mic not working poperly

This is not an option for me as my drivers are said to be up to date and the device is said to be working properly. Is this a known issue with the HP ENVY x360 Convertible 15-bp1xx device? Is there a remedy that works aside from resetting the device?

Welcome to the HP Forums :) I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More

I read the post regarding the internal microphone not working. I will be glad to assist you with this. You've done some smart troubleshooting and provided a splendid account of the issue. Kudos to you for that. :)

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this.

  • Did you try the tap test in audio settings for the headset microphone?
  • Have you recently made any software or hardware changes on the PC before the issue started?
  • Have you confirmed the Microphone is listed under device manager?

  • Did you try an external microphone to check if that works?

For a start please try these steps:

  • Right-click on the speaker icon on the lower right corner of the taskbar.
  • Then please select recording devices. Please select the Headset Mic option
  • Then tap the Lid near the top gently several times next to where the webcam is located and check if the microphone bars respond to the taps and receive inputs.
  • If they do then it should work with a driver uninstall and reinstall.
  • Please make sure that the headset Mic is set to default and enabled in properties option.

Then please perform these steps from device manager.

  • Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand sound video and game controllers>then select the sound drivers and right-click on it and uninstall the audio drivers. Check the box that says delete the software for this device.
  • Then restart the computer and update the bios, chipset and audio drivers from this link:  https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers please select the country and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Or you can download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.

Then check if this does the trick for you.

If the issue continues, then check if the internal Microphone is working and perform all the relevant steps from this link:   HP PCs - Resolve Microphone and Audio Line-in Problems (Windows 7)   to troubleshoot the issue Then check if it gets resolved.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Eagerly waiting for your response!

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

MathewT, thanks for your suggestion, but I have the latest driver, as I wrote in the first posting. As well, I checked Windows updates several times - no new updates for my computer.

I turned on "windows sonic for headphones" in audio devices properties, and it seems that it solved the problem. Keep watching.

Microphone noise, when skyping with over 3 friends.

Hi I'm new here.

My microphone makes a lot of noise when i skype and have zoom meetings, with more than 3 people at the same time.

It seems to pick up every sound whenever i move, lift a glass and so on, and converts it into a scratching noise at the others end, so they cant hear each other or whomever is talking.

I have tried to see if the driver needed updating, but that is fine.. I dont know what to do.  A bit high pich noises also creates the loud scratchy noises in the others seakers... it's worse when we are over 3 in a meeting, with only two, it's not much of a problem. And it's only my fairly new computer, that does this - but all the time..

Hope someone has an ides of what to do :) thanks :)

I  have windoes 10, but dont know what kind :)

Thanks for your suggestions.  I did try each of the steps you suggested, but with no success.  I did revert to the prior version of the Windows 10 OS and that seems to have resolved the issue for me.

Welcome to the HP Forums :) I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I understand that you have issues with audio on your computer. I’ll be delighted to assist you with this. :)

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you recently made any changes on the PC before the issue started?

When did it stop working?

Did any software app or update cause this to happen?

Have you checked for the error code 10? If you haven't please go through this support document.

We also need to isolate the issue to being a hardware or software related?

Have you tried to check if there is sound coming from headphones or external speakers?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

If the issue occurred after a recent software update, then I would suggest here is to perform a System restore to a good known working date before the issue started: HP PCs - Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 10, 8)

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to uninstall the audio drivers from device manager:

Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand sound video and game controllers>then select the sound drivers and right-click on it and uninstall the audio drivers.

Then check the box delete the software for this device.

Restart the computer and then update the Bios, Chipset and audio drivers on your PC from our HP support website, using this link.

Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.

Once done, restart the computer.

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to run the audio test from the F2 (Please remember to capture the failure ID for further assistance).

  • Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

  • Turn on the computer and immediately press the F2 key repeatedly, about once every second.

  • The HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu is displayed.

HP PC Hardware Diagnostic UEFI screen

  • Select Component tests.

List of the Component tests

  • Please initiate a test on the Audio - The Audio Playback Test checks your system to make sure the audio device is functioning properly. During the test, a few music notes are played in sequence and then repeated. This test takes 1 minute to complete. Click Audio, then click Run once. Choose either the speakers or the headphones. When asked, enter the number of notes you heard.

If the audio test passes then the evidence indicates towards a software issue. In that case, you may perform the steps as described in detail from this link: HP PCs - No Sound on HP Computer

Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again
