MY COMPUTER MAKES A SQEEKING NOISE WHEN I PULL UP ANY SPREADSHEET, ETC.  IT'S ONLY BEEN DOING THIS SINCE I HAD A PROBLEM WITH ONE WEBSITE THAT HAD THE BLUE CIRCLE SPINNING AND WOULD NOT GO THROUGH.  FINALLY GOT IT FIXED BUT SINCE THEN MY COMPUTER MAKES THE SQUEAKING SOUND WHEN I PULL UP ANYTHING.

My HP 17-caxx plays any music cd (.cda ) 2 minutes and stops playing . It will play .mp3 & dvd great

After playing the 2 minutes, it stops, wmp screen jumps to the next song. Taping the play button sends an “ please insert disc” display.

Both WMP and CyberLink Power Player do the same.

HP replaced the DVD-RW mechanism but did not help.

Installed BIOS update ( from F.12 to F.21) but did not help!

Does anyone know of a fix?

Hi! , Welcome to HP forums.

I understand you would like to know if you can use Koss headphones on your laptop.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your laptop?

Most of the HP laptops support a 3.5mm headphone jack. Looking at the specifications of the headphones it is a 3.5mm headphone jack and it should work with the laptop.

Refer the video instructions from a third party to know more information. Click Here

Hope this answers your query!

I totally agree with you. Hp support is an illusion. They will say to contact in private to try to make it appear as if they are solving the problem.

If you manage to call tech support the machine will try to get you to go online and chat with a virtual agent. The tech support will give copy paste responses from some manual. They don't care what you are saying. It is copy paste step 1 then if that does not work copy paste step 2 and so on.

If it is not a simple problem they will make excuses, and never acknowledged that the issue is with their devices. I have never received "support" that was this bad.

I think I did may have found a solution to the popping, however I returned my laptop a day later so I cannot be sure as it was an intermittent issue. (The reason I returned my laptop was the total lack of support by Hp, and other issues that I was facing with the laptop going to sleep.)

Anyways the issue seems to be with "Intel smart sound" drivers. This is in device manager but not under sound, but under "system devices". The problem is that windows will install new drivers for intel smart sound which are not compatible with realtek drivers. Your computer should be using the intel smart sound drivers included with realtek drivers.

The supposed solution is to manually download the sound drivers from hp website. Disconnect from the internet, undo auto connect. Uninstall all sound devices and all intel smart sound devices from device manager, and tick the box to delete drivers from computer. Restart PC. Then install the previously downloaded drivers.  Restart PC. You are done, and can connect back to the internet.

For me the problem was that the latest version of realtek drivers on Hp do not install properly, and installation finishes half way through.

Please post on here to let other people know if this works for you after a few days as the issue is intermittent.

The audio driver for hp envy does not install properly. It finishes half way through with a black screen after being timed out.

I am not sure what happened to the latest response I posted on this but I will try again - the laptop is brand new, I have not made any recent changes to it and everything is up-to-date. I have tried updating the Bios, I have done the entire troubleshooting process and the support document and nothing has worked.

The 'no speakers or headphones plugged in' message stays up the whole time, and there is no sound coming through my TV or laptop.

I have the same problem, mine has B&O play but the issue hasn't started until I turned it on 30 minutes ago it was working fine yesterday. I have already looked at the control panel and rollback doesn't show and if I try to update it says I already have the best drivers. I have Realtek HD audio.

HP ENVY X360 Sound Card Issues

The sound on my HP ENVY X360 was working fine and then stopped for seemingly no reason. My sound icon has a red "X" over it and reads, "No speakers or headphones are plugged in." But no sound is working at all, not the built-in speakers and not my headphones. The volume control won't even pull up.

I've got a bunch of sound devices showing up and don't want to mess around with the wrong one. What should I do to restore my sound?

Thank you!

Windows 10 upgrade from Windows 7.  Windows 10 update tonight killed the red LED when I have sound muted.  Sound is otherwise OK.
