My laptop's volume is very less.
How can I get more volume.

One thing can help is the following. Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select 'Playback Devices'. Left click the default device once to highlight it ( it's usually 'speakers & headphones' ) then click the Properties button. Click the Enhancements tab and put a tick in the box next to 'Loudness Equalization'. Click Apply to save the change and then click OK

I have tried all of the possible troublshooting for this problem and I still have crackling when listening to music on my laptop.  I need a solution immediately please.

Due to Microsoft's recent design choices, I have abandoned Windows and now run Ubuntu 14. I have been disappointed with the out-of-the-box audio performance, as the sound is very low and difficult to hear through the speakers under Ubuntu (no such issues using headphones) and am fairly certain it is a driver issue. Googling the matter seems to bring up two points:

 

First, it appears that some machines exist with Ubuntu preloaded from HP? If this is accurate, can we obtain the image?

 

Secondly, I was repeatedly directed to use Jack-Retask in order to attempt enabling Beats Audio (ugh! Why did HP put that crud in their systems?) in order to solve this issue. Specifically, I was directed to these instructions, which were found in several locations. Attempting to do so results in a loss of sound altogether.

 

Has anyone gotten Beats Audio to work or found HP sound drivers for Ubuntu (or any other distro)?

I bought this laptop two days ago and today is the first time I have wanted to use my headphones, I plugged them in, in the correct place, only to find that no sound is coming out, however it is still coming out of the laptop speakers perfectly fine. Thinking it may just be my headphones I tried two different sets of earphones only to have the same thing happen. When I click on the sound setting it also doesn't have an option to change to the headphone jack. I was wondering if you had a solution? I have the HP Notebook- 15-ac043na if that helps.

just notice that my beats icon does not show in my computer anymore and cant find the driver for it i think it was cuase by the windows 10 download i went to hp support to download driver but still not solution please help i went to msconfig and wont show up

This guys solution definitely works. Thanks for helping. Just installed on a friends computer after she got it back from a computer store after she dropped it and needed repairs. When we got it back there was no audio device installed. I was hesitant to download obviously.. but... after we followed the process and restarted everything worked.

OK, I managed to get it working with the chipset drivers.

However it said the drivers I were trying to install are older than the current ones? So won't any updates break it again?

Since Fri, I have not had any sound on my laptop, not from the internal speakers or the headphone jack and the led on the mute key is not working but if I hit the mute key, the little symbol appears on the speaker icon and it disappears if I hit it again. I have ran tests, and the bars light up as if sound is coming out but there is no sound at all.  I have uninstalled both the AMD and Realtek devices, reinstalled them with updated drivers, reset my laptop, replaced the keyboard, and changed the setting in the bios so that the "FN" key has to be used for the functions of the F1-F12 keys.  I had updated to Windows 10 well over a month ago and everything had been working fine.  When the sound did not come back on after the reset, I wiped the hard drive and reinstalled Windows 7(64 bit) and still no sound.  The led lights up for the wifi, the power button, and everything else is operational except for the sound.  I am about to try an update to Windows 10 again but at this point I am not very hopeful.  Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated!!  Thanks!!!

 

PS.  It's the Pavillion 15-n019wm with Windows 7(64 bit).

I've been having an issue where no matter what song or software is running/playing, the volume will drop very quiet at loud parts, and increase to be very loud during quiet parts (maybe it's attempting to make everything the same volume?) I have no idea why anyone would ever want this disasterous feature anywhere near their ears, but whatever the case, I just want my sound quality to return to normal. I write music, so this is a particularly critical issue that I'm having since it completely ruins my sound quality for what should be moving and dynamic music.... 

I actually had this issue on windows 8 consistently with this PC, and I was pulling my hair and cursing trying to research and figure what was causing this problem and how I could fix it. The update to windows 10 fixed it. It was PERFECT. But today I restarted my PC for the first time in a while and on the startup screen, it notified me that "updates were installed" and then I went to listen to some music, and that's when I noticed that the awful volume fluctuation curse had plagued my PC once again. This is a very critical matter, as I stated before. I've tried unchecking and checking thihs box and that box, disabling beats audio... anything that you could think of... I need a real permanant solution and a definite knowledge to what causes this awful audio mistake.... All help is appreciated!

My beats by dre audio stopped working as soon as i formated my hard drive, did a complete re installation of drives and still wont work, now im upgraded to windows 10 but still no change on the beats system, please help. i cant acces my recovery i formated that too a while later.

My sound is not that much loud as it was in windows 8.1 and no bluetooth windows 10 and also no app of Beats audio can anyone help please ...And Nvidia app is also not there plz help.

Did a fresh install of Windows 10 this weekend after doing a trail upgrade a couple weeks ago.  The audio was a little lower after the upgrade but I figured it was just a setting and I'll fix it after the reformat... Where can i find the software?  I have tried installing the drivers others have recommended on the internet but i get an error message that the install will be aborted because of an IDT package solution.  Can anybody help?

Audio disturbed when the system notify something. I tried to install the latest audio driver from hp website but nothing has changed. What I have to do?

The Notebook only supports headphones that are plugged through the audio jack not USB.
