Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63501-64000/sp63555.exe

When done, hold down the Windows key and press R
Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.

In Device Manager, expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall and restart.

When windows has reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook and let windows fully load.

Hi,

Try the following.

Download the Realtek HD Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp67001-67500/sp67289.exe

When done, hold down the Windows key and press R

Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.

In Device Manager, expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the Realtek device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.

When complete, restart the notebook.

When windows has reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click on the Realtek installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook and let windows fully load for a few minutes before checking.

Earphone jack not working when earphones are fully plugged in

When I fully plug in my earphones to the laptops audio out port then the earphones is not detected. But, when I plugin the earphones halfway through then the laptop detects the earphones. Even when the laptop detects the earphones, the audio comes out of only one ear piece. After some fine adjustments on the halfway plugged earphone jack I am able to listen on both the ear piece but when I ran a stereo test, audio seems to come out of both the ear piece when it should have come from only one side. I have no issues with my earphone and they are working fine.

Is this a problem with the audio drives or the audio jack on my laptop? If the audio jack is faulty how much would it cost to replace those?

Thank you for your time.

Hi,

Can you post back with the full Model No. and Product No. of your notebook - you can usually get this by holding down the fn key and pressing esc, otherwise see Here for a guide on locating this information.

No sound coming from laptop or headphones.

I have a HP Pavillion G6 with Windows 7 (64-bit).

The issue came randomly one day a couple of months ago, I turned on my laptop and there was no sound. I tried headphones, no sound. When I tried hooking up my laptop to my tv with a hdmi cord, it did work. I've tried re-downloading, uninstallling, updating, rolling back every driver I could find for my audio. I even restored my computer to factory settings. I am really out of ideas here, please help!

Hi,

I've just checked the Realtek package and it downloads Ok, so you may have some other issues going on as well - upload the image of the error you're seeing as the previous one isn't displaying.

Speakers so hot they actually burned my skin!

I work for a small I.T. company and we have a dozen of more HP Stream's that we support for several client's who needed a cheap notebook.  One of them, the one my Boss was using has a very concerning problem.  When the speakers are on, the front edge of the notebook where the speakers are get so hot it actually gave me a nasty burn on my two arms.  I have seen things get hot many times before, but never anything this hot!  I know it is the speakers, because when I disable to speakers the heat goes away soon after, and comes right back when you enable it.  The Warrenty expired back in March and I really am not concerned about getting a refund or replacement.  What I am concerned about is it get's hot enough to catch on fire and we have these stream's all over the place.  I am hoping it's just isolated to just this one notebook.  I would like to send it in for HP to look at.  Since the warrenty is expired I have limited support options.  I really don't feel like paying for a tech support call when I am only trying to help out HP with a potential issue.

I will try these but FYI the audio works it just lost the beats audio app that comes with the pc and like I said before I restored the PC and it had the beats audio prior ....maybe a corrupt hard drive ? The only other thing I noticed is in the device manager when I go to uninstall the audio driver that's current running it just says "HD Audio" not Realtek driver , also I notice that there is a conflict under another tab it did not install drivers for something else just has question marks??? I deleted them they come back of course after reboot because it recognizes them ... Any suggestions for this?

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Low volume after installing several different drivers. Can't find original driver to reverse effects

$

Hello. First, thank you for taking the time to read this message. I'll try and add all the valuable information I can. However, if you need further information to help solve the issue, please let me know. So a few weeks ago I notice that my audio was heavily distorted (like you know that sound your laptop makes when you bump it, that sound). I downloaded Realtek audio HD driver, made sure it was up to date to help with the distortion. Well, then the volume became too low. I kept installing  Realtek audio drivers from HP, removing all realtek devices  (under Sound, Video, Game Controller in device manager), browsing for updates over the internet, etc but nothing work. Additionally, I've gone to Playback devices (under the volume icon in the task bar), selecting my speakers, going to properties, and selecting Enhancements, and selecting "Loudness Equalizer". So far that has helped a little bit. My volume now is at 100% and it sounds like it did when it was 20% (when there were no issues).

Unfortunately, I don't know how long this problem has persisted and I don't think there's a restore point before that time to try and reverse the effects. Is there any way that I can find the original driver that came with this notebook? Currently, I went to device manager>Sound, Video,Game Controller, Realtek HD Audio, update> Browse>  Let me pick>choosing the earliest driver.

Any advice would be really welcome

I just purchased an HP Laptop a month ago & this same issue just started happening. You start to watch a video & with a few seconds the volume fades to an inaudible level. I have tried very fix I have seen on the internet & nothing works. It is very frustrating. It is going back to the store where I purchased it. I did not buy a cheaper model & paying close to $900.00 for this laptop is upsetting. It sounds to me like many folks are having issues with new HP laptops purchjased in 2016.

I know....totally f'd up weird. I can't believe HP relies on its customers to find solutions while they continue to sell a faulty product.

I don't have a permanent fix but here's what I found works for awhile. Plug in your headphones then unplug them. You may have to do this again in another day or two so keep them handy.

If HP is monitoring this...WAKE UP and give your customers a SOUND solution will you! If we don't get a resolution soon I too will return mine. We shouldn't have to put up with crap quality when you pay full pop for a new machine from a so-called reputable com pany. Aside from this sound issue the machine works great...but I am losing faith with HP support after having had many HP's in the past.  This second grade, 3rd party, user support HP has placed on their customers is questionable at best. WHOSE the corporate brainiac that came up with that one? Here's a suggestion HP...fire that idiot and survey your technical einsteins to see if they have another idea like, oh I don't know...perhaps..real HP technical support! YOU KNOW, LIKE THE GOOD OL' DAYS.
