I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forum.

Roger that. Thank you, Chetan. I just tried to do a system restore back to before I installed the latest audio drivers yesterday. Interestingly, before the system restore, the sound control panel saw my LG headphones and the B&O speaker but I could not set the Realtek audio as default. In fact I coulldn't set anything to default because the "set default" option did not light up. So after I tried the system restore, I got a dialogue box that said it was not successful (possibly because of some virus software). I do have the McAfee that came with the system and I did just renew that a couple of weeks ago on the day it ran out. Now, after the "unsuccessful restore" the B&O speaker only crackles when I am playing music through it or through the jack I use to connect my stereo system to the Envy. As soon as I start the music, the speaker crackles. A second or two after I stop the music, the crackling stops. That is an improvement because it was crackling all the time whenever it was plugged into power. Now, when NOT plugged into power, I can play music and the speaker does not crackle. Whatever's going on, it doesn't make much sense but at least I can work plugged in without that awful crackling. If I want music I can listen to my iphone thru my LG tone infinums. Bit of a buzzkill over my (still realitively new) HP but at least I don't have the crackling making me nuttier than I already am. It comes to mind that it seems this started exactly when my 1 year ran out because my McAfee that came with the machine ran out and I re-upped the very day it told me it had expired. Perhaps it's more than simple coincidence.

Hi! , Welcome to HP forums.

I understand that microphone on your laptop keeps muting by itself.

Please try the steps mentioned below.

1. Right click the speaker icon on lower right of your computer. (Near date / time)
2. Select "Recording Devices" from the pop-up options.
3. The "Sound" control pop-up window will display on the "Recording" tab.
4. Select the "Communications" tab.
5. For the question: "When Windows detects communications activity:", answer with: "Do nothing".
6. Select "Apply"

7. Test to be sure your microphone no longer self adjusts.
8. If the problem is solved, close all pop-ups, enjoy. If problem persists, try the following:

9. Click the "Recording" tab of the "Sound" pop-up window.
10. Right click the used microphone and select "Properties".
11. Select the "Advanced" tab within the new pop-up window.
12. In the "Exclusive Mode" section, uncheck the following option: "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device"
13. Click the "Apply" button.

14. Test to be sure your microphone no longer self-adjusts.

Hope this helps

Have a great day! Smiley Happy

At the outset, It is not the IDT drivers but the Realtek drivers and codec for beats audio that is required.

Please refer the service manual of your computer from this link: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04535694 Please refer to page 2 from this manual under Product Description.    Audio and video Fixed integrated HD web camera with one microphone

Realtek ALC3227-CG audio codec Beats Audio

Dual Speakers support 25 mm x 14 mm speaker

Please update the bios, chipset and Realtek audio drivers from this link and it should correct the situation.

At the outset, We first need to diagnose the issue correctly to being hardware or software related.

  • When did this first happen?
  • Did any software update or change cause this?
  • Have you checked in device manager for the installed audio drivers?

For better clarity, please help me with the complete model# of the unit.

If this happened recently, please follow the steps from this document:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04973149

If this does not fix the issue, please run complete hardware diagnostics on the computer from this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03467259 especially the component test and the sound card test.

Please make a note of a failure code that may show up for any failed component. If it fails you will need to get the unit serviced by contacting HP phone support by visiting this link: http://hp.com/contacthp to get the unit serviced.

If the unit is under warranty, repair services should be covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. You could look up the unit’s warranty by visiting this link: http://support.hp.com/gb-en/checkwarranty/  and select the country of purchase and follow the on-screen instructions.

Finally, if  the diagnostics pass,  please update the bios, chipset and audio drivers by visiting this link http://hp.com/drivers and following the on-screen instructions.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Smiley Happy Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you.

When connecting to TV via HDMI the picture and sound was working. However, the sound no longer comes through the TV but come thorugh the laptop.

Could this be a driver issue?

Note: HDNI cable works fine.

Thanks

Hi:

Probably, but you haven't provided any details regarding what model notebook you have.

Plus most new HP notebooks run W10 64 bit, so I'm not sure if you really have a 32 bit OS or a 64 bit OS.

You can see this related discussion for what the problem probably is and how to fix it, but you will need to use the Intel graphics driver from your notebook's support page, if it has an Intel processor.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. Smiley Happy I came across your post and maybe I can help. I understand that you have an HP Pavilion 15 au061tx and after upgrading to Windows 8.1, the beats audio panel is missing from your laptop. I recommend you to check if the Beats Audio console is still present in the laptop by following the below steps:

To open the Beats Audio control panel from the Windows 8 Start screen, type beats to open the Search charm. Click Beats Audio Control Panel in the search results. If you don't see Beats in the search results, click Settings on the right side of the screen and check the search results again.

The Beats Audio control panel opens. Use the features to customize your volume, listening, and recording experiences, and access the advanced audio settings.

Will the same process work for my HP ENVY 17-j013cl Notebook PC????

Quite some time ago my Beats audio had vanished after a Windows 10 update.  I tried various drivers suggested on HP Forum: sp52399, sp63555, sp71717, sp59542.  A few of these worked for some but nonet for me.  Finally I landed on the right driver which worked: sp71886.exe.  Those of you who are still without Beats, can try downloading the driver from the HP Suppport Centre.

Please note my system: HP Envy 15, Windows 10 Home 64bit.

I recently upgraded my old Pavillion dv7 1127cl to windows 7 ultimate 32 bit. Hooked up hdmi to RCA HD TV. Video is great but of course no audio. Under sound it list as Realtek HDMI Output, but ATI HDMI Audio and not plugged in is grayed out and cannot be set to default. I have tried downloading hdmi drivers but didnt do anything. BTW, laptop has sound, np there.  In device manager I have one conflict. Under other devices I have unknown device. Hardware Ids ACPI\HPQ0004. I saw there were  fixes in your forums for the latter issue, but was unsure if the download recomended was compatable with my laptop. Anyway, Im mostly deaf from the military and my laptop just doesn't have enough volume.  Thanks in advance for the help.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. Smiley Happy I came across your post and would like to help. I understand that you can hear static or a crackle noise from the headphones. You have replaced the headphones and the issue persists. I have reviewed your case and appreciate the steps you have performed and certainly have done a good job. Ideally, it would mean a defective port on the PC. But before we come to a final conclusion, I recommend you to run a hardware diagnostic check by following the below steps:

  1. Shut the computer off completely.

  2. Turn on the computer and immediately press the F2 key repeatedly, about once every second.

The HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) home page displays.

  3. Use the down arrow to select Component Tests, and then press Enter.

4. Select Audio, and then press Enter.

5. Select Run Once and press Enter.

6. Select Headphones to begin the test.

NOTE: Make sure to connect your headphones or headset; otherwise the test will not run.

7. During the test, a few music notes will be played in sequence and repeatedly. Select the number of notes you hear in the sequence and press Enter. If you hear no sound, select No sound and press Enter.

If the test fails, a failure ID will be provided. Have the failure ID available when contacting HP Support.

Hi,

What is your HDMI to RCA adapter ? Note: HDMI use digital signals and RCA uses analog signals. You NEED a proper converter.

Hi:

This is the driver you need for the 0004 device...

This package provides HP 3D DriveGuard for the supported notebook models and operating systems. HP 3D DriveGuard receives notifications from the integrated accelerometer and protects the hard drive (HDD) by automatically "parking the heads" to reduce the risk of damage if the notebook is accidentally dropped or is abruptly impacted by another object.
