Hi!
I understand that audio icon remains at the center of the monitor.
It does not sound like it is a monitor issue. But, you can try performing a factory reset on the monitor that should fix the issue.
If it does not fix then try the steps mentioned below.
Right-click the Start icon and select Properties.
Click Taskbar tab > click 'Customize...' in Notification area' section.
Uncheck 'Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar' (it looks like you have this on)
Click 'Restore default icon behaviors
Also, Please provide the product details of your PC, if the issue still persists.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Cheers!
Hi,
Everytime Itry to play something withaudio via a browser the volume goes really low after a few seconds and remains that low for the duration.
I have tried changing the settings so it does not reduce the voume when it detects communications activity and have also changed the setting so applications can take control of the speakers.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Becki

Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you need assistance with the single audio jack with microphone function
I'll be glad to help you out, however, for an accurate solution I will need more details:
What is the product number of your computer? Click here to find out: Click here
Without the product information, it would be hard to get any of the details related to your computer and so that has the utmost priority.
Also, most of the desktops have a single audio jack in the front, though have an extra audio jack and a microphone jack at either the top or at the back of the tower, please let me know if you've confirmed that as well?
Please reply with the details for further assistance.
Eager to help!
Regards,
Hey there.
Welcome to the HP Forums!
Thank you for posting your question in the HP community, a great place to get support. I read your post about noise from the speakers . I am happy to help you with this issue.
To resolve this uncommon sound from the speakers, you will have to download and install the SoftPaq.

I just recently did a master reset on my laptop. Because of that i no longer have ny audio. my laptop says
1-Digital Display Audio
AMD High Definition Audio Device
Not plugged in
(it has a picture of a tv i guess no other picture)
However, it does not let me choose a different playback device, configure or set as default. when i troubleshooted it says to restart. i did and nothing occurred.
i connected headphones and they dont come up on display.... i tried to download a speaker progrom but the laptop says the program is blocked through firewall.
WHAT CAN I DO WHAT SHOULD I DO PLEASE HELP......
Hi:
What is the full model number or product number of your m6 notebook?
The product number can be found on the same sticker as the serial number.
I see you have started your troubleshooting. That's great. Here is an HP support document: Resolving No Sound or (other) Audio Problems in Windows 7. It has quite a few things to check and troubleshooting steps. Hope it helps you resolve the issue. Thanks,
OK, thanks.
Your notebook is not supported by HP for W10 and there are no W10 drivers on your notebook's support page.
The only suggestion I can offer would be to try this W10 IDT audio driver from a newe model notebook which may also work for yours too.
Install and restart the PC.
This package contains the driver that enables the IDTHigh-Definition (HD) Audio in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.
Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver does the trick, but the issue returns after several days.
This also seems to go hand-in-hand with the low volume issue (volume is about half of what it should be). After driver reinstall, volume is good again for a few days.
Anyone have ideas on this? Am I using the wrong driver?
thank you it worked...thank you soooooo much
You're very welcome.
Is the microphone and headset integrated or are they separate pieces of equipment?
yes, two jacks
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers?
yes i did but it is the same case even now.
Does it work in any program?
it doesnt in any program.
Have you tried to use the troubleshooting tool?
yes , and no kind of error or anything is hown
Did you raise the Microphone volume level?
yes
Have you done Windows Updates?
yes if you are talking about windows 10 and i tried to UPDATE ALL the drivers in AUDIO INPUTS /OUTPUTS in DEVICE MANAGER
Have you done updates with the HP Support Assistant?
yes , i update time to time as sson as i get a notification
my details
so what do i do now ???????
