Dragon demands a very high quality microphone and I suspect it is purposely configured so that you cannot use a built-in microphone. It has been a few years since I used Dragon but I can recall the setup program telling you not to try to use a built-in laptop microphone.

Hello, - Hope you are well Smiley Happy

Thanks for reaching out to HP Support Forums! I would be glad to be of your assistance.

I understand that the microphone is always set on mute after the Windows update. Let's try the steps mentioned below to fix this issue:

1. Run Audio Troubleshooter:

  - Launch Troubleshooting by typing and clicking “Troubleshooting” in

     Windows search.

  - Click on "Playing Audio".

  - Follow the on-screen instructions.

2. Check if the microphone isn't disabled:

  - Right click on the Volume Icon on the taskbar, select "Recording Devices".

  - Click on "Show disconnected devices", and "Show disabled devices".

  - Select on Microphone, click on "Properties". If it is disabled, enable it.

  - Once enabled, set Microphone as default audio input device.

3. Check if the microphone isn't muted:

  - Right-Click on the Volume icon on the taskbar, select "Volume Mixer".

  - On the Microphone slider, slide it up to 100%.

4. Boost sensitivity of Microphone:

  - Right-Click on the Volume icon on the taskbar, select "Recording".

  - Double click on Microphone.

  - Open the Levels Tab, move the Microphone boost slider up to check audio.

5. Disable enhancements:

  - Right Click on the Volume icon on the taskbar, select "Recording“, Double

     click on Microphone.

  - Open the Enhancements / Effects Tab.

  - Check "Disable All Sound / System Effects“. Click Apply, OK, test the Microphone again.

6. Change format of the Microphone:

  - Right click on the Volume Icon on the taskbar, select "Recording Devices".

  - Double click on Microphone.

  - Go to the Advanced Tab, choose any of the 16-bit options on the list.

That should do the trick. Let me know!

Good luck & Merry Xmas Smiley Happy

Re: Bang & Olusfen file is not opening

Hello - Hope you are well Smiley Happy

Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a great location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others.

I see that you are not able to open the Bang & Olufsen file. This issue would occur if service “CxUtilSvc” is not running when you start Windows. “CxUtilSvc” is short for “Conexant Utility Service”. I would suggest the following steps to try and fix this issue:

1. Press Win+R (Windows key and R key) at the same time. A Run dialog will appear.

2. Type services.msc in the run box. Click on OK button. Then Services window will open. (Look for "Skype click to call" if you cannot find CxUtilSvc)

3. In Services window, check the list for “CxUtilSvc” and double click on it. The Properties window will open.

4. In Properties window, click on the Start button if the service is stopped. Change the Startup Type value to Automatic.

5. Click on Apply and OK button.

6. Restart your computer and check.

If the above steps do not solve the issue, then try to uninstall and reinstall the drivers to fix the issue:

1. Press Win+R (Windows key and R key) at the same time. A Run dialog will appear.

2. Type devmgmt.msc in the run box. Click on OK button. Then Device Manager window will open.

3. Expand category Sound, video and game controllers. Under this category, you will find Conexant High Definition SmartAudio Drivers. Right-click on it and then select Uninstall.

4.  In the Uninstall window, check the box next to Delete the driver software for this device. Then click on OK button.

5. After uninstalling the driver, restart the computer. Usually, the windows will load the audio driver automatically after it reboots.  Then update the driver to the latest version.

Those steps should do the trick. Let me know!

Good luck & Merry Xmas Smiley Happy

low microphone level

Dear community,

Last summer I bought an HP Spectre x360 and now I have problems with the microphone. It is actually working but with a very low sound level. I've searched quite a long time for an answer on the Internet now without finding a solution so I hope you can help me!

So far I've tried going to the sound parameters to push the microphone level and boost to their maximums, I've also made sure that all my drivers are up to date, but still it's almost impossible to understand a word when I'm speaking. Interestingly enough the phenomenon is the same when I use an external headset.

Let me know if you need any other kind of information, I'd be so grateful if somebody finds a solution!

Sincerely,

Edouard

No Sound from HP ENVY 24 Monitor with Beats Audio

I have a HP Zbook 15 G3 along with a HP Envy 24 inch IPS monitor with Beats Audio.  The sound comes out of the laptop 95% of the time.  I bought the monitor because of its internal speakers.  I have tried everything and have called HP support and then it works where the sound comes from the monitor,  but then after I turn off my computer or restart it, the sound then once again comes from the laptop.  It is frustrating.  I do have a HDMI cable plugged in.   The normal trouble shooting has been done.   Any help would be great?

Hello JuanVedani,

Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63501-64000/sp63555.exe

When done, hold down the Windows key and press R
Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.

In Device Manager, expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall and restart.

When windows has reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook and let windows fully load.

Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again !!

My laptop speakers are working, but they are behaving improperly. The sound is full initially, followed by a constant decrease in the volume automatically. After a pause, again it becomes max., and the cycle goes on.

HP EliteBook 2560p (LG667EA) no bluetooth, and now no more audio

$

This laptop has been working for years without problems. But today I was looking for bluetooth on this laptop. According to the specs it has so, but it wasn't there in the devicemanager. In BIOS it is mentioned and enabled. I tried to install the bluetooth software (sp1616 and sp52773) but both failed because no bluetooth device was found.

So i googled and found this 'solution' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Me_A5-G0pcs I'm using windows 7 but i "forced" the installation of a intel centrino driver as is mentioned in the youtube video. It didn't work, but even worse after i rebooted the computer my audio failed. No device is found. I tried to install the sp62585 which should install the audio device. But it fails. No device could be found...

I tried to install get something working, but I failed and made it even worse.

That's a valid question and for best practices,

It's recommended that you look for the latest version by clicking on the details tab and download the most recent update available from the list mentioned above.

If the issue persists after the updates as well, I would appreciate if you could check if the volume buttons are physically stuck and if not, you may proceed further:

Perform a hard reset: Click here

Thanks for your reply and wish you a Merry Christmas! Smiley Happy

I have one through your posts and understand that you need the Dolby Advanced Audio driver for your HP Pavilion g6-2123us Notebook. I will certainly assist you. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a great job.

I believe the Dolby Advanced Audio is not available since the time the laptop was upgraded to Windows 10. Is that correct?

I did some research and found that your laptop was originally shipped with Windows 7. Since you have upgraded to Windows 10, I do not see any drivers available for Windows 10. That is the reason for the Dolby Advanced Audio isn't available. If Windows 7 was present on your laptop then we could try reinstalling the Dolby Advanced Audio using the HP Recovery Manager program.

Hope this helps. Hope this information helps. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Cheers! Smiley Happy
