I understand you are having audio issues on your HP Pavilion dv6-6b53er. If you follow this document on sound problems with external sound devices. Click on select desired speakers or sound device.

You can select which device to use by setting the default. Windows then automatically switches to the headphones, when connected or to the HDMI output when a HDMI cable is attached.
