I own an HP Envy TouchSmart M6-K025DX Sleekbook Notebook PC
OS - Windows 8.1 Pro
IDT High Definition Audio Driver Version 6.10.6457.0
So, this should be interesting. After reading so much on everyone else experiencing the same problem I have for almost a year. I still have found no resolution, but have a workaround. Read carefully at what I've discovered. I'm a computer technician, also former HP Employee, and never seen anything like this before.
SYMPTOMS -
1) Sound isn't as loud as it should be
2) System sounds are louder than music playback (Click on the volume and click on the adjuster, but DO NOT Adjust)
3) Music will start off loud, then drop
This issue has occurred on my old notebook, which was an HP Envy M6-1105DX Notebook PC with Windows 8. Thought that the issue was hardware specific, but was not. Computer was replaced to the current one that I've mentioned above.
Following steps DO NOT WORK:
1) Restoring computer to factory settings via Recovery Discs/USB Drive and/or from partition.
2) Uninstall all drivers and software and reinstalling from the fresh download from HP Site.
WORK AROUND (You won't have an equilizer, which you'd have to use the music media player equilizer)
1) Right-Click bottom left-corner at the Desktop and click on Device Manager
2) Expand Sound, Video, and Game Controllers
3) Right-Click the IDT HD Audio Driver, and choose Update Driver
4) Click on Browse My Computer for Driver Software
5) Click on Let Me Pick From A List of Device Drivers On My Computer
6) You'll see a list of "Compatible Drivers" and choose the High Definition Audio Device driver and click Next
7) Click Yes to the Next screen and a Reboot may be required.
Notice that the Generic Microsoft HD Driver sounds better than the IDT Beats Audio Driver.
IS THERE ANOTHER FIX WITH THE OFFICIAL DRIVER, PLEASE TELL ME? THANK YOU.
