Thank you for the solution. I did the installation and it worked fine. Prior to receiving the solution I did some research on my own on the Intel forum. There is a lot of discussion on the Intel graphics forum regarding graphics adapter drivers, and many people are complaining of problems. All of these seem to relate to older versions of the drivers.

In my view there is a safe way to deal with graphics drives, and that is to let Intel detect the hardware and appropriate driver. Of course, it makes total sense for the owner to double check. To be extra safe, here is what I recommend, an this uses Intel instructions:

1. Identify both the generation of the CPU and the specific model of the Intel graphics chipset. In my case I have a 4th generation I7, but I need to check for the graphics chipset. Following Intel's instructions: From the desktop, right click anywhere. Screen resolution dialog box appears. Select advanced. In my case the adapter is HD Graphics 4600. The small print data shows that the driver referenced in the solution above is the correct one - Thank you and kudos is well deserved.

2. Alternatively, the PC owner can let Intel do all of the work, but it certainly doesn't hurt to do step 1 above as insurance. Go to http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/ . Intel will do an installation of a detection app and then detect chipsets and driver versions. It correctly detected my graphics chipset and the version of the driver installed. It also said that there was a newer drive available - 15.33.8.64.3345 also  known as (10.18.10.3345). This step also installs an Intel app that can be used for further controls of the chipset.

3. The Intel app installs Java. After completing the detection and the installation, I ran the Java app and selected disable for safety.

My overal confidence is a bit shaken for HP's driver update service because it wanted to download an earlier driver version. I'm hoping that HP employees who read this forum can address this issue and fix it for all other users.
