I understand that after installing some updates, you lost the sound. You have uninstalled the updates and the codec files. I am sending you documentation on "No Sound from the Speakers (Windows 7)" click here. You could run the HP Support Assistant to aid in looking for updates and resolving issues. click here. You could also run the UEFI diagnostics to rule out a hardware issue click here. If all else fails you could restore to a previous date when everything was working.
