Hello OscarFC,
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.
I understand sound was disabled after an update was performed. Glitches like this are difficult to re-create, and it is hard to pinpoint what causes it. However, I have seen this a few times, and this is what I can provide on this issue:
1. There are a few updates and driver installations will disable sound until a reset of the computer is done (though I haven't seen this in a while).
2. I find that quite a few updates or driver installations that have anything to do with sound have a better chance of disabling sound until a reset.
3. Sometimes, sound will be disabled if an update is done while a sound device is connected (external speakers or headphones for example). I haven't been able to narrow down why this is.
4. If an update or driver is installed that is not for the computer, sound and/or other features will be disabled.
This is what research and testing has proven. Any one of these factors caused the issue. The only thing that is up for debate is which one is did it.
Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks again for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!
Mario
