I am reposting this since I did not get any useful direction from my previous post.
I have connected my HP Envy to my HD TV via the HDMI connection and have not been able to get any sound from my TV. I have tried MANY different things and nothing has worked. I will say that when I connect a different laptop (HP Probook) to the same TV I can get the sound to come through the TV.
As I said I have tried MANY different things to try and get this to work. The last thing I did was to delete ALL drivers for sound and display adapter and restarted the laptop to allow it to install the drivers automatically (I was connected to the HD TV while I did this). I was finally able to get an HDMI device to show in the Sound Playback Device (see below).
But it shows as "Not Connected". At this point, I am ready to throw my HP laptop into the nearest busy lane of traffic and buy a Mac. Can someone PLEASE help me to get this to work??!! I have been trying for over 2 months to get this to work. I am at my wit's end...
