Did the computer have Windows Vista at one point? The reason I ask is because the HP ActiveSupportLibrary is only available for download in Windows Vista. Though it does come with Windows 7, it has been known to cause more issues in operating systems that are not Windows Vista.
If it isn't too late, could you provide all of the error messages you have seen? The reason for this is because I do not have enough information to troubleshoot to the ability I would prefer. If I had more errors, I would help me figure out the source of error.
