Since the microphone is not working with Skype, I would suggest following through the different steps from Skype to make sure that the settings are correct.

Now after you have gone through the above steps, are you able to use you microphone in other programs? Or is it the same as Skype? What is the full model number of your notebook. I have included the document 'Guide to finding your product number'. As well the current version of Windows that you are running. If you need assistance in finding the version, please refer to the following document 'Which Windows operating system am I running?'.
