Thanks Lexx. So theoretically if Windows is updating your audio drivers, this should stop Windows from updating the driver.

First restore the original IDT audio drivers using this method:  Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7)

Then download and install the update drivers. If this gives you an error, uninstall the drivers you just restored, from control panel first. IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver 2012-04-11

Finally, follow these instructions to stop Windows update from updating your drivers. (note: this site is outside of HP, I have not reviewed any downloads that may be there. Just use the information, no downloads.)
