I'm also having an audio issue. I unboxed my refurb HP ENVY TS m7 Notebook PC (E4S19UAR#ABA) within the last 24hrs. Very excited - beautiful hardware... now very frustrated - none of the Beats Audio that was such a selling point.
Ran all the Windows and HP updates - now updated to Windows 8.1 64-bit.
HP Support Assistant, and Windows Update show everything as up to date and functioning correctly.
I have no sound from my speakers, but sound plays normally from (wired) headphones. Sound driver is up to date, and speakers are enabled, and default. It seems like lots of people have had various versions of this issue, but I haven't hit any solution that has worked for me. Troubleshooter doesn't detect a problem.
Uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it didn't help. Nor did various older versions of the IDT driver.
Disabling and re-enabling the speakers didn't work. Bios update didn't help (Board: 1965 KBC Version 93.49; Bios: F.43).
