Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP ENVY 15-j040el Notebook and not connecting HDMI to the TV. Here is a document on connecting a tv to your Notebook. Select the option setting Windows display properties to use additional displays and setting display resolution.
