Most of the 5.1 systems I've seen require two jacks to conect to them - Is it possible that both headphone jacks are used when connecting to a surround-sound system, perhaps the plain headphone jack (#6) to connect the front speakers and the S/PDIF jack (#5) for the rear, center, subwoofer, etc?
Also, thanks for the link to the user guide - all of my documentation and accessories were lost (along with virtually all of my possessions) due to a slight misshap last year.
