Re: NO SOUND FROM SPEAKERS OR HEADPHONES

I have an HP Pavilion dv6-6167cl Entertainment PC running Windows 7, about 2 years old.  All MS and other updates have been applied.  I have NO SOUND in speakers or headphones.  Hear "beeps" when Windows starts, but no sound when music or videos play.  Video works, just no audio.

Have tried deleting Windows Media Player and reactivating per instructions found on Internet at

but still no sound.  When WMP tries to run, I get an alert that "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing a file." and nothing happens.  Any suggestions?  I'm leaving on 28-day cruise on 4/5/14, so need quick fix.
