Hi Yobrak,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using the forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience in the HP forum, I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.

I see that after a recent update in Windows 8.1 you lost your audio. Just to  clarify, it was a Windows 8.1 update, not that you upgraded to Windows 8.1 that caused this, correct?

You have tried updating the driver and doing a restore back to an eariler date but no change.

I suggest you try this first.

Uninstall the audio driver

Update the chipset driver and then reinstall the audio driver.

Here is a link to a document to assist with this issue. No Sound from Speakers (Windows 8). Have you run  The HP Support Assistant to help resolve this issue and to look for any updates?  Have you tested for hardware failure.? Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 8).

If the hardware tested fine and  it is still not resolved, I suggest you do a recovery back to factory. Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8).  You will receive a prompt during this process to backup your personal files. If you have not yet done a backup, I suggest you do it now, to prevent data loss. Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 8).

Here is a link to aid in updating to Windows 8.1 again. Updating Windows 8 to 8.1
