I'm helping a friend who just recently purchased a j020dx HP 17" Envy Touchsmart system. Out of the box, the speakers didn't appear to work -- to ensure everything was okay, we plugged some speakers into the in-line port -- as expected, the audio played without any issue. When we pulled the cable out of the in-line port towards us, the speakers began playing without issue -- but if we tapped around the area of the in-line port, the speakers stopped again.
What could be causing this? .. Loose connection? .. If so, is the audio part of the motherboard? .. What steps should be taken to rectify?
