Re: Headphones plugged in, but speakers are still playing sound --Pavillion dv5 notebook

DOING  THE MECHANICAL FIX - Pavilion G6 (Continued From Parent Article)

As stated the initial socket replacement did not cure the simultaneous speakers & headphones problem. I discovered that even though the cannibalized Thinkpad T23 socket had the same pinout, IT WAS ELECTROMECHANICALLY DIFFERENT INSIDE. I had obtained the DEFINITE CORRECT REPLACEMENT SOCKET by buying a duff identical motherboard from ebay - don't worry - sockets ARE available on the internet - details further down the page. After swapping over the sockets and eventually getting all the MOBO connectors in (including the small onboard speakers one) the problem was FULLY RECOVERED. I must reiterate at this point that this type of headphone socket is in my estimate unreliable, with an internal flexing plastic lug which actuates the 'plug in' signal pins as detailed below. The part supplied by those detailed below should cover a wide range of laptops but ALWAYS TRY TO CHECK if the supplier lists your laptop as compatible.
