Hi,
What is your machine and its OS ? For dv6 & dv7, under Windows 7 please try this:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp57501-58000/sp57966.exe
Other option is to use Windows Restore to get the machine back before the mistake.
