1. Right click on the Speaker icon on the System Tray

2. Click on Recording Devices

3. Right-click on Microphone

4. Click the Listen Tab

5. Check the box 'Listen to this device'.

6. Click Apply

Hi

Steps 1 & 2 are straight forward, no problems there.

Step 3.....My Options are

Headset Mic, Internal Mic (which has a green tick next to it) and Stereo Mix.

So i assume you mean Internal Mic, so I right clicked internal mic and go to properties, then the listen tab

listen to this device  is ticked, I hit apply and still the same problem.

I am running windows 8.

If you can provide instructions on how to disable the laptop speakers and keep the headphone/audio out jack on

that would be very useful and appreciated.

Thanks

PS pretty crazy to see this thread is up to 60,000 views and still no solution,

The issue is the speakers not disabling when headphone or audio jack is plugged in, this is simple computer

stuff yet HP makes it so hard and complicated....
