Have you tried running HP Support Assistant to ensure that you're installing the latest version of the driver? It may find a different version.
Have you tried removing the driver and allowing Windows to reinstall it? Sometimes it pulls a different version which works. Try the following.
- Go to your Device Manager.
- Expand the "Sound, video, and game controllers" section.
- Right click on your sound card and select "Uninstall."
- Reboot your computer. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
- Verify whether the problem persists and post the result.
