Now I'm convinced that this is a Windows Registry issue: When I run the test in driver of the headphone mini-driver...I hear sounds or music for about 20 secs then when the test is over it's muted again. I checked Windows Services, MSCONFIG etc. and couldn't find any soft switches that were off. So now I'm totally convinced it's in the registry. My internal laptop speakers only play when I have something plugged in to the headphone jack...I did notice something strange. In the Beats software...the speaker volume and check box are "Greyed" out. Don't know it that's normal...the one with the speaker and the one with the speakers and headphone not and appear to work normally. I've plugged in a small headphone jack splitter for now...only way to get sound.
