Hi Guys & Girls

I have a  intel  T5500   166 Mhz  dv2130ea  that i believe was running on xp

i built it up from spares and keep it as a spare because we have quite a few laptops in our household

for the grand children and my sons etc

the problem with it is  :-

i fitted a working motherboard purchased from ebay

fitted a reconditioned formatted hard drive  with no recovery on it

loaded windows 7 home premium on it tried 32- and 64 bit

followed the upgrade instructions on this site as i have done many times before

i have sound coming through my speakers

i have sound coming through my headphones

But when i plug the headphones into the laptop it does not mute the speakers as it should

also when zeroed or muted the sound can still be heard very low from the speakers

so i cannot completly make the speakers silent

so when my mum plugs in the headphones to watch her soaps  i can still slightly hear sound from the speakers

also when i press the audio tab on the media bar it does not turn orange

Now i have  replaced the media cable on the media strip  and when i un install the audio  the tab turns orange

i have changed the speakers

the audio media cable and the media power button strip

also the audio board in the front where the jacks are

 flashed the bios

tried almost every UAA driver that i can find

re satarting  before installing the audio

tried almost every conexant audio driver that i can find even  tried a  couple of realtek drivers

installed what i belive to be the correct chipset from this upgrade forum

i'm really stuck on this one    dont know what to try next

any ideas would be appriated

many thanks in advance

maggie
