Re: WHERE IS MY BEATS AUDIO

Laptop speakers stop working when laptop undocked

I have an issue that I can't find described elsewhere. When I start my laptop sound works fine, when the laptop is in the docking station audio is routed through the docking station or I can play via internal speakers. When I remove the laptop from the dock (I usually do this by sleeping the laptop first) the internal speakers no longer work. I have been through all the troubleshooting steps but no issues are found or apparent, it's just that no sound is heard through internal speakers. If I plug in headphones sound plays fine through headphones, when I unplug I get a notification that the jack has been unplugged but still no sound from speakers. When plugged back into the docking station all is well and internal speakers work again. The only fix I have found is to restart the PC when disconnected from the dock, but that only works until the laptop is next undocked.

Elsewhere I have seen mention of the SRS control settings but I cannot find that application/settings. The sound is Realtek High Definition.

I did not always have this issue, it has developed in the last 6 months or so, I have had the laptop for about 2 years.

Volume control keys on keyboard not working

I followed the instructions, but it still is not working for me.  None of the function keys are working for their alternate purpose.  If I press the volume mute one, it is working as F6.  If I hold down the Fn key it still is F6.

So this resolution didnt worked.

By the way as I said earlier sound works when there is headphone plugged into any of the three audio ports on left hand side (Mic, audio or second audio port).

Can this be bad audio port issue(hardware issue)

Thanks for the support. I tried the suggestions but the screeching continues. I noticed that if I unplug the power cord, the screeching did not occur, but with it plugged in, it does make the screeching noise. The battery seems to only run about 30 to 45 minutes before it needs recharging. Could it be a battery problem?

Do you have a driver software compatible with my device?

Please help.

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if this IDT driver from a newer model notebook works on yours.

This package contains the driver that enables the IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63501-64000/sp63555.exe

Restart the PC after installing the driver.

Thanks for the reply.

I have conducted 1,2, and 3 multiple times.  I have tried to conduct recoveries, but the system fails to do this based on an error that states I'm missing a file(s).

By 'resetting', if that means wiping the computer, I have not done that.

As far as HP UEFI Diagnoistics, the chat tech's might have conducted that, but I'm not sure...

Hello,

I need some advice on how to record from my laptop, HP Envy 15.  I want to record myself playing violin.  Not looking for anything high tech.  Where do I start, what do I need to purchase if anything?  Thanks for assistance.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forum.

,

Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case regarding assistance with audio from your left speaker. I will be delighted to assist you with this.

Superb description, brilliant troubleshooting and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. Smiley Happy

To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:

    • Did this happen after a recent power outage or surge?

For now, let me keep you posted about a few things.

  • As the external speakers and headphones work correctly you have nailed it. It is not a sound card or driver issue. The left internal speaker does not work correctly and is faulty. It requires a replacement.
  • If the external headphones also had this problem then we could have attributed the issue to be a driver related or sound card related one. But that is not the case here.

Hope this answers your question. The computer needs to be repaired. If the computer is more than 3 years old then service options with HP are no longer available because the original suppliers and manufacturers who manufacture and supply the parts to HP to build and service the computer don't do soanymore. So please contact a local Best Buy or Staples technician or any local technician to get it repaired.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient.

Hope to hear from you soon. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. Smiley Happy

Hi vettrock,

I believe your post was moved but I can still try helping you.

Did this happen after a recent Windows update? It seems that Windows update version 1709 is breaking compatibility with a lot of hardware.

Also, a specific model/product number would be appreciated. Information on how to find a laptop's model/product number is detailed in this HP document: https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c00033108

Awaiting your response,

Hi SunilChopra74,

So audio during setup of Windows 10 worked but not anymore (after installation of drivers)?

I think I may be able to provide the solution. Follow these steps:

  1. Search Device Manager
  2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers
  3. Right click your audio driver entity (Should be IDT or something)
  4. Select Update Driver
  5. Select Browse my computer for driver software
  6. Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer
  7. Select High Definition Audio Device
  8. Select next and follow the remaining steps to install
  9. Restart

If you want to check if it is a hardware issue (unlikely), follow these steps:

  1. Repeatedly press Esc upon startup
  2. Select F2
  3. Component Test
  4. Audio

Hope this helps,

Hi SG991,

Assuming you're meaning just the audio recording of your violin, you could use the built-in microphone of your HP Envy 15, however, you'll most likely want better audio quality than that.

The best (and probably only) option is to opt for a simple plug-and-play USB microphone. There is a wide selection however, it seems that there's a general consensus that Blue makes the best all-around USB microphones. Their Blue Yeti is very popular. Link to their site: https://www.bluedesigns.com/

However, you did say that you didn't want anything high tech so you could go for a more affordable USB microphone. It seems that Samson makes some good USB microphones. Their Meteor Mic seems popular for the sub 100 range. Link for Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004MF39YS/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=themasswi0f-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B004MF39YS&linkId=9c500fc76d72dfcceeb6dbab6c7e402d

HP Experts may have better suggestions.

Hi garstog53,

So no bad results for the Hard Drive and System Board tests?

Then follow the above steps but instead of hard drive, select Power Tests.

You will probably get the following options:

  • Power Source Test - The Power Source Test checks your system to make sure the power sources, both the battery and the AC adapter, are functioning properly.
To run the test, click Run once. The Power Source test time is 4 minutes. Battery Calibration time is 2 to 4 hours.
  • AC Adapter Test - The AC Adapter test provides an interactive test to determine if the AC power adapter is functioning properly. A good battery is required for this test. Before running the AC Adapter Test, HP recommends verifying that your computer can receive power by connecting a known working AC adapter.
To run the test, click Run once. The test takes 2 minutes to run.
  • Battery Test - The Battery Test checks your system to make sure that the battery is functioning properly. It tests the battery and allows you to run calibration if needed.
The Battery Check test time is 2 minutes. Battery Calibration time is 2 to 4 hours.
To run the test and for battery information, follow the steps in Battery Test.

Please run all and post back with the results - I believe the power source test is a combination of AC adapter and battery so you can choose to only run that - if you have that option.

I do believe that the battery needs to be replaced considering that your computer does not run long.

Re: Bang & Olufse was uninstall

Happened to me too because I downloaded the realtek audio driver that some "verified" HP dude told me to do, to fix a whole other issue with B&O.

What I did to get B&O back to my computer was uninstalling the realtek audio driver by

1. Opening run and typing devmgmt.msc

2. Clicking on sound, video and game controllers

3. Right click on realtek and choose to uninstall

4. Restart

By getting rid of all audio drivers I got my computer to reinstall B&O

Subwoofer Envy 17 malfunction

I've had static and hissing coming from my speakers for months every time a sound is played. It's getting worse and it seems to happen only when plugged in. I reinstalled windows, drivers, etc.. No success. After opening my laptop I realized even when only battery powered it hisses but a lot quieter. I disconnected the subwoofer and the hissing is gone. What I'm wondering though is if the problem could be caused by something else and it just interferes with the subwoofer. Or is this just a busted speaker. Perhaps I'm only removing a symptom and not the cause? No physical damage on the outside of the subwoofer but perhaps a bad connection on the inside. I'm not sure you can actually open the subwoofer to check. It looks like it's sealed. Any thoughts? Is hissing just a speaker issue? Thanks.
