Re: Need "IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver" for Windows 10 (64-bit)

@Paul_Tikkanen,

Your story of the audio driver is the same as mine!!!

What do you mean "DTS audio control app will not open"? Are you referring to the Beats Audio Controls settings?

After installing your given file sp71886, the audio is much better than with the generic Microsoft HD audio driver and Beats Audio Controls settings opens for me.

On-Screen Keyboard Not Working Right

The icone that used to be near my clock on my taskbar is not odd looking. I believe that USED to be the one that pulled up my on-screen keyboard. Now it pulls up something I will attach to this post.

I have tried to figure out what I need to fix this. When I do pull up the keyboard manually, it doesn't do what it used to. If I held, for example, the "e" down, I'd get accent marks and other embellishments that are no longer visible.

What can I try to get this back, please? All suggestions welcomed.

I am attaching a pic of the icon on the taskbar and what I get when I click on that.on-screen keyboard large.PNGon-screen keyboard.PNG

Hi:

Instead of the Beats Audio, my 350 G1 came with the IDT DTS audio.

The driver I posted installed the DTS control panel (which would be the equivalent of the Beats Audio control panel in your model), but when I click on it, nothing happens.

As I posted yesterday, no big deal.

The sound works almost exactly the same as it did before the latest W10 update killed the sound...just that I can't open the DTS audio control panel.

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out :)

As I understand, the speaker volumes go low after a while,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824

(Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

When was the last time it worked fine?

Were there any hardware/software changes made?

Does this happen on headphones?

Let's try these steps to resolve the issue:

Use the troubleshooting tool in Windows

The audio troubleshooting tool in Windows can automatically fix common audio recording and audio playback problems with your computer.

Run the troubleshooting tool using the following steps:

  1. In Windows, type find and fix audio into Search, or right-click the speaker icon  in the taskbar and select Troubleshoot sound problems.

  2. Select Find and fix audio playback problems or Find and fix audio recording problems from the Search results.

  3. Click Next.

  4. Select the device you want to troubleshoot and click Next.

  5. Wait while the troubleshooter detects problems and makes changes (or prompts you to make changes).

  6. When the troubleshooter is done, the Troubleshooting has completed page is displayed, listing any problems found and what changes were made to the computer.

NOTE: For detailed information about the troubleshooting, click View detailed information in the troubleshooter window. Click Close.

If a recommended action is displayed, select Apply this fix, or Skip this step to continue to search for other problems.

If the audio problem has not been resolved, continue to the next step.

Uninstall Audio Drivers:

  1. In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.

  2. Double-click Sound, video and game controllers.

  3. Right-click the sound device and select Uninstall.

  4. Restart the computer to reinstall the driver.

  5. Test for sound.

Updating the audio driver using Device Manager

Make sure the audio device is enabled and then update the audio driver using Device Manager as follows:

  1. In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.

  2. Double-click Sound, video and game controllers.

  3. If a sound device is listed with a down arrow , the device is disabled. Right-click the sound device name and select Enable to re-enable the device.

  4. With the sound device enabled, right-click the sound device and select Update Driver Software.
  5. Click Search automatically for updated driver software.
  6. Windows checks for and installs any updated drivers found. The window displays whether the computer already has the latest available driver or if Windows was able to successfully update the audio driver.
  7. If a window opens asking you to restart the computer, restart the computer.

  8. Test for sound.

Also, perform available Windows Update and HP Support Assistant Update:

  • Open HP Support Assistant
  • Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  • Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  • Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  • Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  • Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also, perform BIOS update from the link: Click here

Let me know how this goes,

Cheers!

    Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out :)

As I understand, there is a delay while playing sound via headphones,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

    How does the speaker work?

Have you checked with a different pair of headphones?

Does this happen with all the videos and music files or just particular?

Are you playing videos from online?

Is there a lag while playing videos also?

Let's try these steps to resolve the issue:

If the issue persists then I suggest you perform a BIOS update: Click here

If the issue still persists try the steps recommended below.

background intelligent transfer service (BITS) transfers files (downloads or uploads) between a client and server and provides progress information related to the transfers. If the BITS service is turned off, windows update may have problems delivering files to your computer.

Start the BITS service click start, and then click run.

Type services.msc in the open box and then click ok.

Right-click background intelligent transfer service, and then click properties.

On the general tab in the startup type box, click Automatic, and then click apply.

In the service status section of the properties dialog box, verify that the BITS service is started. if it is not started, click start.

Click apply, and then click ok.

Also, uninstall the audio drivers from the device manager and install the latest audio driver from the link

Let me know how this goes,

    Cheers!

As you have presumably worked out, the icon in question was for an on-screen touchpad, not the on-screen keyboard.

Crackling noise in left earphone channel

    Hi there,

I'm having trouble with the left audio channel for my earphones on my brand new HP Pavilion. When I play music or any other audio which contains some frequencies, the audio on the left channel is reduced to noise and crackling. The right channel is totally fine.

I've tried using other headphones and also tried to use those on other devices. The headphones are fine, the problem seems to lie with the laptop.

I've tried installing the audio drivers through the HP site, but this didn't change anything.

Do I have any other options to try, or should I send my laptop back for replacement?

    Best regards,
    Nahuel

Doesn’t work. The drivers are not supported by this hardware cofiguration.
    Thanks anyway.

    Hi,

Hold down the Windows key and press R

Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.

In Device Manager, expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  If you see a entry for idt hardware, right click this and select Properties.  Click the Driver tab and then click 'Update driver'.  Select 'Browse my computer for driver software' and then select 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'.  Left click 'High Definition Audio Device' once to highlight it and then click the Next button to install it.

    Has this made any difference?

    Regards,

Lately I have noticed the audio lamp not working although the button does silence the audio when pushed.

The latest windows update seems to have caused this issue and doing a reload does not help.

Cannot find any issues with any of the apps or options in settings.

Lamp button sometimes does work but far no reason or observed cause.
