Multimedia Audio Controller driver for EliteBook 840 G6

$

I have reimaged an EliteBook 840 G6 and reinstalled all the drivers from both the factory recovery DVD and downloaded from the HP Support site.  The Device Manager is still showing issues with the Multimedia Audio Controller.

I pulled a list of all the drivers before reimaging so the driver I am showing as missing is for the Intel« Smart Sound Technology (Intel« SST).

I have searched everywhere and cannot find the driver.

I see that you've responded twice both in public, none in private, please use this link for details on how to find and use the private messages section, that said, resetting windows using the RESET THIS PC option can be used once all personal data is backed up as otherwise the data could be deleted/lost, although, that isn't recommended as the hardware tests have failed and its been determined that this is a hardware failure.

As per the Service Guide: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06155404, there are front speakers above the Keyboard

I suggest you run an Audio Test and let me know if you get sound through those Front speakers

- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the Notebook.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Audio

Are you looking for ISST ?

Your machine uses Realtek software, not Conexant.

I did exactly you told me. But I didn't find Component tests option there. I download and install the uefi from the site address  "www.hIp.com/go/techcenter/PCDiags" found when opening uefi.

I attached a image of that.

"I installed Intel Driver Version: 22.20.16.4836(SP84231) and the NVIDA SP81606 driver packages. I restarted the laptop and no longer find any unknown devices in device manager.  All devices now appear to be working correctly."

Try resetting your laptop, it should help. (Make a backup of your data before resetting as everything will get erased). If you do not have an option for backup you could try the option to keep your files and reset everything else to default and it should work.

Sorry but all that solutions already available in Internet were not working, it includes HP Update and Windows Update tools. I had to deinstall all drivers and install manually again. Telling the truth I will not install any more updates HP is suggesting because it is crazy. The notebook has two years and this is the second time I had problems with sound after update.

Yes, I am aware.

The problem is I tried the audio driver and from the HP site for my model of laptop and it is not resolving the missing driver in Device Manager.

Here is the Hardware ID:  PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9DC8&SUBSYS_8549103C&REV_11\3&11583659&2&FB

Thanks,

Tony

My laptop started making a weird buzzing noise yesterday once I started playing sound. It wouldnt stop even when I closed everything.

After 20 minutes it stopped, I tried plugging in headphones and it still wouldnt go away.

Anyways I restarted it and it was good for a while, but now everytime I use my speakers its good sometimes and sometimes its just staticy.

I am having this exact same issue. There is no driver on HP's site named Multimedia Audio Controller driver. The hardware ID is the same as well.

Tried the same thing. Hope I did it right. Got audio back but it sounds off, if that makes sense. I'm back to RealTek. I now see that SSI is supposed to disappear. Hoping for a 1903 update to the HD drivers sometime in the near future.

Sound and video played through device no longer works

Audio from Bluetooth earphones works, but through the laptop it doesn't. Ran HP audio check and they said everything was working. Videos on all websites from Microsoft edge also don't work, and neither does video playback on the Netflix app.

No OS updates show as available so it can't be that, i have also obviously restated my laptop multiple times.

Does that mean the issue is currently resolved? If yes, I must let you know that the device doesn't have to be updated unless you have to fix a certain issue via the update, please go through the update release notes for details on what the update is for, before installing it, if you feel its creating issues on your device.

I hope that answers your query,

Install the latest version of the HP Hardware diagnostics (UEFI) on your device using this link: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/pc-diags.html

1. Turn on the computer.

2. Immediately press the f2 key repeatedly, about once every second, until the UEFI menu opens.

When the UEFI menu opens, select the diagnostic test you want to run, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

Keep me posted on how it goes.

Have a great day!

Cheers 🙂

Hello, I purchased my OMEN by HP - 15-dc0010nr as a refurb from a 3rd party wholesaler. I have the B&O speakers I also just downloaded and installed the driver you mentioned. I looked for the B&O gui but was not able to find it. Is there a certain driver I need to use for this laptop. Ive had to take items piece by piece since I do not have the original install nor the restore media.

Thanks

Bill
