Well, I tried both drivers you forwarded to me. Unfortunately the problem persists. There has been no change to the audio behavior after any of the previous steps.
The "two beat per second" ticking sound continues. It appears to be coming out of the right speaker only. The sound continues even after muting the sound. Any other ideas?
