I understand that the speaker and headphones play at the same time.
Go to device manger and uninstall the IDT audio driver under sound, video and game controllers.
Restart the computer.
As the computer is booting back up, tap the F10 key.
When the BIOS setup utility loads, press F9 to set defaults and F10 to save and exit.
When the computer boots back to windows, it will load the audio driver.

If you are still having the problem, go to HP.com and update the BIOS.
Here is a link to the update; you’ll need your product number.
You can find this information by holding the FN key and pressing the ESC key.
If you’re not able to correct the error by making these software changes, I’d call HP and have them repair the unit while it is still under warranty.
