HP really needs to develop a Windows 8 driver for SoundMax ad1984a. I have not found any workaround yet. But, if you are having a laptop with the SoundMax ad1984a sound card (eg., HP 2230s) your soundcard will not work if you update to windows 8 as there is no avaliable drivers on the market.
If HP would solve this issue I would be very happy!
