Thank you for replying,

The enhancement tab depends on the audio driver, if it was available before but isn't anymore, I recommend the below steps to get them back (however, the enhancement tab is subject to the manufacturer of the Audio card)

  • Fire up the pop-menu above the start button by pressing “Windows key + X
  • Select “Device Manager” from the list.
  • Now go to the “Sound, video and game controllers” section.
  • Here, you should search for “Conexant SmartAudio” under the list of audio device drivers. Right click and select “Disable”.
  • Right click again and this time click on “Update driver software
  • Opt for “Browse my computer for driver software
  • Now go for “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
  • A window asking you to select the driver that you want to install for the device should now appear.
  • You might see a list of available drivers. Click on “High definition audio device” and then hit “Next”
  • When asked, select “Yes” and a confirmation window should appear indicating that the process has completed.
  • When asked to reboot, say yes (this should resolve it) if it doesn't, Click here to recover the factory shipped drivers using the recovery manager.

Keep me posted,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

Loud static/crackling noise when I play audio through earbuds and sometimes the speakers

Ok. So when I plug in earbuds (relatively inexpensive ones, but I don't think that matters) and play audio of ANY kind (music, video audio, video game audio) there is a loud crackly/staticy noise that occurs randomly but frequently. It has happened before, but I fixed it, as it was just a problem with the headphones, not the laptop itself. Please help! Thank you.

You're very welcome, Angie.

Sorry that didn't work for you.

However, I don't think that very low volume is normal.

I have always been able to adjust the volume on my HP notebooks to a level that is fine and I don't recall ever having to adjust it beyond 50%.

But since I don't have your model notebook and my newest HP notebook has a different audio system (IDT), I can't compare apples to oranges other than to say it doesn't seem normal to me.

Did you try the latest audio driver directly from Realtek?  If not, you may want to give that a try.

Accept the agreement.   Download and install the 2nd driver on the list.

Beats Software Missing and IDT Audio Driver Won't Install

Hi,

I'm working my dad's laptop which my uncle gave him a few months ago. It's an HP ENVY TouchSmart m7-j120dx laptop, which came with Windows 8 but my uncle upgraded to Windows 10 Pro at some point. My dad recently did a somewhat hefty Windows Update and after it finished, the Beats audio management software disappeared and the speakers were now extremely quiet (at full volume they're barely audible). His headphone port still works like normal if he uses external speakers or headphones but the internal speakers don't work right at all anymore. I checked HP Support Assistant, which said the computer didn't need any updates. I then went to the HP website and downloaded the IDT Audio Driver for Windows 10 (suspicious of the fact that it's from 2013), but towards the end of the installation it said the update wasn't compatable with the hardware and it aborted installation. Now because it overwrote the previous (albeit broken) driver and aborted, the speakers are not only very quiet, now it says there aren't even any audio devices installed. How in the world is this possible that the driver for a 4 year old laptop doesn't work anymore with said laptop? Smiley Mad The thing's got a lot of applications my dad doesn't need anymore so I've been meaning to wipe it clean, but at this rate now I wouldn't be able to get his speakers to work if I did so. Appreciate any help in advance! Smiley Happy

Sound Doesn't Work on Startup - I Must Reboot for sound to work

I have a Compaq CQ58-265EV that has issues with sound. When I start the laptop I have no sound. If I reboot the laptop the sound works. I have tried uninstalling and reinsatlling drivers to no avail. This problem arose after downgrading my system from Windows 10 back to Windows 7. It is not a big issue to have to boot twice for sound but maybe it is an easy fix as I am not computer savvy.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Conexant Versions impacted by Keylogger

Hello,

What specific versions of the Bang & Olufsen Conexant driver are impacted by the keylogger for EliteBook 840 G3?

The HP Bulletin lists model EliteBook 840 G3 and states only impacted software versions are listed but just identifies the fixed version based on OS after applying the update but not what versions are impacted by the logger.

Is the EliteBook 840 G3 (Win7) with Bang & Olufsen Conexant version 8.65.133.0 impacted?

Does a list or link of the specific versions of Bang & Olufsen Conexant driver that are impacted exist that could be provided to management?

Thank you for any assistance!

I have checked the records and found a service advisory related to the issue you have mentioned.

The audio function does not work after installing Windows 10 Anniversary update. A red "x" is displayed on the speaker icon in the system tray. When the mouse cursor is placed over the speaker icon, the following message is displayed.

You have to uninstall the audio drivers from device manager on your PC and install the latest audio drivers.

Please update the Conexant High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver using this link.

Let me know if this works!

Have a pleasant day ahead! Smiley Happy

Headphone issues

Hi I am looking for some help, I've tried everything I 've read on other forums but with no luck.

I have this week bought a HP Pvilion laptop with Windows 10 Home. I came to watch something on it last night and plugged my headphones infor the first time but they didn't work. They are not listed on the list of playback devices either, I have checked the box to show disabled devices but all I have is speakers on the list. I have uninstalled drivers/ updated drivers etc. But no luck. Please I would love to get this sorted without having to take it back to the shop.

Many thanks!

AMD High Definition Audio Device Not plugged in

Since I installed the new Windows Update on my Laptop, the Sound is not working anymore. I found out that the AMD High Definition Audio Device is apparently not plugged in.

I tried different things:

- troubleshooting

- updating both Audio Devices: AMD High Definition Audio Device and Realtek High Definition Audio Device

- uninstalling the Windows update

...but nothing worked.

My Groove Music reported that it can't play, because "this item was encoded in a format that's not supported" - the fault code given is 0xc00d5212.

I would be delighted if you could help me.

Thanks

Hello, - Hope you are well Smiley Happy

Allow me to welcome to HP Support Forums! It is a great platform to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!

I understand that the internal speaker is not working on your HP Envy. Let's try using the Windows default drivers. Here are the steps:

  • Go to device manager.
  • Now maximize the “Sound, video and game controllers” from the list. You will see the audio driver. Right-click on “IDT high definition audio CODEC” and select “Update driver software”.
  • Select “Browse my computer for driver software” – Select “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer”.
  • Select “High Definition Audio Device” (Not IDT High Def...  This is important) and click Next. You will get a warning message but reply “Yes”.
  • Once windows have successfully updated the driver software, try playing the audio again and check.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Cheers Smiley Happy

    IDT Audio Driver keeps crashing

    $

I am facing this problem with my IDT High Definition audio driver, The Driver keeps crashing after every few minutes of fxing it.

For Example: I am playing some sound on Youtube or Vlc and Start working simultaneously on some other tab the sound would vanish in few minutes and would be only be fixed by reinstalling the audio driver again and restarting my notebook.Though someitmes if was just fixed by windows audio troubleshoot but not always.

The sound vanishes from speakers as well as any outside devices like headphones or aux conntected speakers

I have tried all possible troubleshoot ways listed on HP's website i.e updated, installed the latest version, tried using the normal High Definition Audio Codec, the sound would still vanish in few minutes. I did a factory reset and re-upgraded to windows 10 but the problem still persists.

I cannot think any more things to do to fix it. Any idea about how to go about solving it now ?

    Thank you.
