Hi,

Try the following.

Download the Realtek HD Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp79001-79500/sp79132.exe

When done, hold down the Windows key and press R

Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.

In Device Manager, expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the Realtek device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.

When complete, restart the notebook.

When windows has reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click on the Realtek installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again.

When the OS has reloaded, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Sounds.

Select the Communications tab.

Under the option 'When windows detects communication activity', set this to Do nothing.

Click Apply and Ok to save the setting.

Reboot once more and let windows fully load for a few minutes before checking.

Hi,

Try the following.

Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71886.exe

When done, hold down the Windows key and press R

Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.

In Device Manager, expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.

When complete, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63001-63500/sp63408.exe

When the Chipset reinstallation has completed, shutdown the notebook.

Unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.

Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f9 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f5, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.

When windows has reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook and let windows fully load for a few minutes before checking.

Conexant driver spam in event log

$

Hello,

I've noticed the Conexant driver is logging a lot of junk to the event log.

This is probably debug related, just like the infamous keyloggers.

Is there any plans to release a new driver with this junk turned off, or is it possible to force it off using some hidden setting?

Among the messages, this set of information messages appears every 90 seconds;

CxService::AliveTimer_Elapsed

CxService::WakeUpApps +

CxService::WakeUpApps User Account = [REDACTED]

CxService::ProcessExist Process NameMicTray64, Process SessionId = 1, Process User Name = [REDACTED]

CxService::ProcessExist Process NameSmartAudio3, Process SessionId = 1, Process User Name = [REDACTED]

CxService::ProcessExist Process NameFLOW, Process SessionId = 1, Process User Name = [REDACTED]

FlowTray path = C:\Program Files\CONEXANT\Flow\FlowTray.exe

CxService::WakeUpApps -

When I lock/unlock or sleep/wakeup/boot my computer, it will also log some messages as Warning:

CxService::OnSessionChange ChangeSessionId = 1, SessionId = 1

CxService::OnSessionChange ChangeSessionId = 1, SessionId = 0

CxProcess::ProcessStartByUserContext() = false

CxService::OnStart: launchedNgen = 0

CxService::OnStart: Ngen +

CxService::OnShutdown

CxService::OnSessionChange ChangeSessionId = 1, SessionId = 1

CxService::OnPowerEvent PowerStatus = PowerStatusChange

And also seeing some error messages:

CxService::GetCurrentUserToken: WTSQueryUserToken error=1008

The error is one thing, but most of those warnings are clearly not actual warnings.

All of these messages get logged to a application/service log named CxAudioSvcLog

In my opinion, this events should only be logged if the user/admin has specifically turned them on, as they are obviously meant for debugging purposes.

I feel like this, along with the prior incidents with the keyloggers, bare witness to a lack of quality control at HP and/or Conexant and I sincerely hope this will be addressed in a better manner than it previously has been.

I had updated the window few hours ago, after it's done, i find the sound or audio is different from previously(I din know how to describe it,general speaking sounds bad).

I tried searching online for solutions, but its not applicable in my case. The only solution i tried out is reintalling, but not working as well.

Its a simple laptop, its just 'realtek high def aud' nothing else.

Anyone had any suggestion? TQ

@Yash

I also bought BS145TU model recently and sound seems to be a bit low.

Output on Speakers of BS145TU are a bit low..and it same case with most of low end and mid range laptops.

Check if both speakers using sound options see if that is causing any issue.

Other option is to use bluetooth speakers..but unfortunately.. we have to live with it.

But using headphones sound is lot more better.

Audio driver HP laptop

good afternoon, migrating from windows 10 1709 to 1803 i've lost the mute led on my notebook HP 250 G5 X0R03ABZ but the sound output was fine

tryed downloading latest driver on hp download website section for my notebook and installed 6.0.1.8117 11/04/2017

now the led light for the mute function is working but raising the volume to the maximum makes the speakers play an evident noise that can only be mitigated in the DTS audio control in the traybar disabling audio enhancements

are there any newer drivers for windows 10 1803 suitable for my notebook? thanks in advance

It is not actually "spam" -- the log is set to include "informational" events by default.

Have you tried filtering the log?

Event Viewer > Applications and Services Logs

Click on CXAudioSvcLog

Under Actions (right side)

Create Custom View

Select "Event level" type(s)

Click OK to save

Enter a name for your Custom Log

Event Viewer > Applications and Services Logs

Click on CXAudioSvcLog

Under Actions (right side or along top ribbon)

Filter Current Log

Select desired "Event level" type(s)

Click OK to save

and / or

Event Viewer > Applications and Services Logs

Click on CXAudioSvcLog

Under Actions (right side)

Properties

Reduce the maximum log size to less than the current size as desired

Click OK to save

Not sure if this will achieve all that you desire -- it gives you options and a place to start looking at your Event Viewer setup(s).

Re: How do I use an external microphone?

I have bought my HP aoi 27 two days ago, with the purpose of video making/compiling for which sound recording is essential. Along with the pc, I also purchased an external microphone.

Came home and I am also having the same problem.

Recommended solutions above don't work.

When I plugged in the external microphone, the speakers also stop working.

When external microphones is plugged in, only the sound from my tv (connected via HDMI) works.

Checked the microphone with my good old laptop and it is working properly.

Can't tell you the magnitude of my disapointment.

I feel like plugging in the external microphone to a washing machine.

I checked the year and saw that it was 2018, a year in which the concept of internet of things ceased to be the next best thing, on its way to the ranks of basics.

I came here happy to see the relevant topic opened, but my disappointment doubled when I saw that the recommended solutions don't work - as stated by another user similar to me half ayear ago- .

To sum up: I purchased this pc to solve my problems, yet my problems rather than being solved have increased substantially. And I am here...

What should I do?

Should I return this PC?

Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!

As I understand the speakers and headphones sound switches between each other on its own,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you disable the stereo mix?

Or the front panel Jack detection?

If not, here's what you need to do:

Check the 'Disable front panel jack detection' option:

  1. Double-click on the Realtek HD Audio manager system tray icon

  2. Click on small folder icon

  3. Check that the 'Disable front panel jack detection' tick box is unticked.

  4. Now insert the jack plug of either a microphone or headphones into the corresponding front panel socket of your computer.

  5. If you now see the message 'Information: A jack has been plugged in', then you do not need to change this setting as your system has an HDA compatible front panel.

  6. If you do not see this message, then click on the small folder icon again and tick the 'Disable front panel jack detection' check box.

If any of the above options are unavailable, install the latest drivers for you audio adapter and then try again: Click here for the drivers

If you would like to thank me for my efforts to help you,

 feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,

Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" button for my efforts to help you.

Have a great day!

Since the Hardware Test passed and also the Audio is fine at Restart, then it should be an issue with the Operating System. Resetting the Notebook to Factory Settings should take care of it.

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

I'll be glad to help you :)

As I understand the external microphone isn't working,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

  • Have you updated the BIOS, Chipset & Audio drivers?
  • When was the last time the microphone worked?

While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:

Step 1: Check the microphone hardware

  1. If the microphone operates on battery power, make sure the batteries are correctly seated and are functional. If the microphone operates on external power, make sure that all the power connections are secure and the power cord is connected to a power source.

  2. If the microphone has a volume control, make sure it is turned up half way.

  3. Disconnect the microphone from the computer port, and then re-connect it. If the microphone uses a USB port, try connecting it to a different USB port on the computer.

  4. Connect the microphone to another device, such as another computer, and try to use it.

    • If the microphone functions correctly when connected to the other device, then a driver or computer recognition issue might be causing the problem. Continue to the next section of this document to check for an update to the audio driver.

    • If the microphone does not function correctly when connected to the alternative device, then the microphone might need to be replaced.

Step 2: Update the audio driver

  1. Connect to the Internet.

  2. In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.

  3. Double-click Sound, video and game controllers.

  4. Right-click the name of the sound hardware and select Update Driver Software.

    Update Driver Software option in Device Manager

  5. Click Search automatically for updated driver software and wait for Windows to update the driver software.

    Updated Driver Software: Search automatically for updated driver software

  6. Windows checks to see if updated driver software is available.

    If an update is available, let Windows install the update.

  7. When the update is installed successfully, a Windows has finished installing the driver software for this device window displays.

    Test the microphone.

  8. If updating the driver did not resolve the issue, continue to the next section.

FOR DETAILS & FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS, USE THIS LINK: https://hp.care/2fGPvnh

(By the end of this article all the issues should be resolved)

Do get back to us as we have a few more tricks up our sleeves,

Besides, we will follow up to ensure your concern is resolved,

That said, If we have helped you resolve the issue,

feel free to give us a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon

followed by clicking on 'Accepted as Solution'

And Have a great day Ahead!

Re: After re-installing Windows 10 and installng HP drivers cannot get any sound from audio outputs

,

Good Day.  Thank you for taking an interest in the HP community. I understand that you require assistance regarding issues with audio after a Windows update. I will be really glad to assist you here. :)

Fabulous description and superb diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. :)

To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did you try to delete the drivers completely and update it from the HP support site?

For now, try these steps:

Then perform these steps:

  • Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand sound video and game controllers>then select the sound drivers and right-click on it and uninstall the audio drivers. Then check the box delete the software for this device.
  • Then restart the computer and update the chipset and audio drivers from this link:http://hp.care/2syreDe and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Then check if the situation has been corrected.

If the issue continues, then perform these steps:

Use the troubleshooting tool in Windows

The audio troubleshooting tool in Windows can automatically fix common audio recording and audio playback problems with your computer.

Run the troubleshooting tool using the following steps:

  1. In Windows, type find and fix audio into Search, or right-click the speaker icon  in the taskbar and select Troubleshoot sound problems.
  2. Select Find and fix audio playback problems or Find and fix audio recording problems from the Search results.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Select the device you want to troubleshoot and click Next.
  5. Wait while the troubleshooter detects problems and makes changes (or prompts you to make changes).
  6. When the troubleshooter is done, the Troubleshooting has completed page is displayed, listing any problems found and what changes were made to the computer.

     NOTE: For detailed information about the troubleshooting, click View detailed information in the troubleshooter window.

    Click Close.

  7. If a recommended action is displayed, select Apply this fix or Skip this step to continue to search for other problems.

If the audio problem has not been resolved, continue to the next step.

Test external speakers or headphones

If you are using external speakers, they might be faulty. Try using another set of speakers, or a pair of headphones, with your computer. If the second set of speakers or headphones produces sound without problems, the first set of speakers is faulty.

If the same audio problems are present in both pairs of speakers or headphones, continue to the next step.

Restoring the audio driver in HP Recovery Manager

To restore the audio driver in HP Recovery Manager on a computer that came with Windows 10 installed, complete the following steps:

  1. In Windows, search for and open Recovery Manager.
  2. Click Reinstall drivers and/or applications
  3. Select the audio driver in the list, and then click Install.
  4. Wait for the driver to reinstall. When the installation is complete, click OK.
  5. Close HP Recovery Manager and then restart your computer.
  6. Test for sound. If the audio problem persists after reinstalling the driver, try updating the driver using Device Manager.

Updating the audio driver using Device Manager

Make sure the audio device is enabled and then update the audio driver using Device Manager as follows:

  1. In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
  2. Double-click Sound, video and game controllers.
  3. If a sound device is listed with a down arrow, the device is disabled. Right-click the sound device name and select Enable to re-enable the device.
  4. With the sound device enabled, right-click the sound device and select Update Driver Software.
  5. Click Search automatically for updated driver software.
  6. Windows checks for and installs any updated drivers found. The window displays whether the computer already has the latest available driver or if Windows was able to successfully update the audio driver.
  7. If a window opens asking you to restart the computer, restart the computer.
  8. Test for sound. If the audio problem persists after updating the driver, continue to the next step.

If you completed these steps and the latest driver was already installed, use the following steps to uninstall and then reinstall the driver:

  1. In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.

  2. Double-click Sound, video and game controllers.

  3. Right-click the sound device and select Uninstall.

  4. Restart the computer to reinstall the driver.

  5. Test for sound. If the audio problem persists after reinstalling the driver, continue to the next step.

Solution 1:

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select 'Playback Devices'.
  • Left click the default device once to highlight it ( it's usually 'speakers & headphones' ) then click the Properties button.
  • Click the Enhancements tab and put a tick in the box next to 'Loudness Equalization'.
  • Click Apply to save the change and then click OK in all remaining windows and see if this has helped at all.

Solution 2:

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select 'Playback Devices'.
  • Select the Communications tab up the top.
  • By default ‘when windows detects communications activity’ is set to ‘Reduce the volume of other sounds by 80%’.
  • Change this to ‘Do nothing’.
  • Press OK.

Now check for issue resolution.

If the issue persists try these steps:

  • Windows Audio is a Windows service that manages audio for Windows-based programs. If at all this service is stopped due to any reason, audio devices will not function properly.
    To fix audio services, open the run command and launch services.msc.
  • In the services window search for Windows Audio and right-click on it to select Start to start the audio service.
  • And ensure the Startup Type is set to Automatic.
  • Click Apply and OK
  • Restart the computer and check if it works.
  • If the issue persists, try the steps mention on this link: Click here.
  • This should fix the issue for you.

If the issue continues, from this link: https://hp.care/2JtVM2E (HP PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures)

Check the section under “Running Component Tests” then run the Audio test.

Now check if the speakers work. If the speakers fail then you need to replace the speakers by contacting hp phone support.

HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:

  1. Click on this link – https://hp.care/2moMFSc
  2. 2) Click on “Continue as guest”.
  3. 3) Enter the serial of your device.
  4. 4) Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. 5) Click on “Show Options”.

Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.

  • If diagnostics pass then backup your important data and perform a Microsoft push-button reset of Windows by following steps from this link: https://hp.care/2uiBZLS

This should do the trick for you.

Perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. Good luck to you. I will keep a watch for your response.  Please note that I am not overloading you with steps but instead, giving you more information to work with.

We are as eager as you are to get the issue fixed. I request you to perform all these steps till the issue is fixed.
