Re: enchantments tab in sound settings

Hey ,

If you have downgraded your system this could be why the tab is missing. You could try uninstalling the sound driver and software, restart the Notebook and update the Audio adapter. You might have to return the Notebook to original to get the Enhancements tab.

Thanks.

Hi ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I see that you are getting sound from both your speakers and your headphones after removing your third-party external sound card. Set your headphones as the default audio device. This third-party link will show you how to do it. The link is for Windows 7 but if you search for Control Panel on your tile page and go to Sound in the Control Panel everything will be the same.

I grasp that the sound is suppressed and sometimes you receive the error "no audio device installed".

Here are  links that should help.

Beats Audio no longer working after BIOS update

$

Hi, today I've updated my BIOS to the following version;
Insyde F.17 (24/04/2014 is when this update was release). I know I am late for this update, but totally forgot to check for driver/bios updates up till today.

The problem I'm having is not a driver issue as far as I can tell, the drivers are working properly however if I open the Beats Audio Control pannel, I cannot change any option, or choose anything, and my sound coming out of my speaker sounds bleak, and very echo-like sounding. Clicking things does nothing, like if no option is available, also looking at my audio devices I find that my ADM High Definition audio is marked as not plugged in.

Could someone kindly help me?

I understand that you have a problem with  your sound and other things and are unable to access control panel.

First I would check for viruses or malware?  Here is a link to Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool to assist you with that issue.

Once that has been ruled out I would try a HP PCs - Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8).

If the issue should still remain I would do a recovery back to factory.

HP PCs - Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8)

While doing a recovery there is an option to backup your personal files to prevent data loss. If you have not done one yet, now is a good time.

HP PCs - Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 8)

Best of Luck!

I want to add, that I tried to download the latest AMD High Def. Audio driver and it kept failing to download, and the the manual download I attempted brought me into a never ending loop that asks me to select my language, and then my product, then I had to go back to the driver page and click download, which brought my back to selecting my language.

Hi,

Try the following.

Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63501-64000/sp63555.exe

When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.

When complete, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63001-63500/sp63408.exe

When the Chipset driver reinstallation has completed, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.

Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f9 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f5, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.

Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again before checking.

Regards,

DP-K

Hi

Welcome to the HP Community! I see that you are having a problem with the sound on your notebook. Do you get any sound if you plug in a set of headphones? Try this HP document No Sound from Speakers. What is your product number?

Hi:

The video controller in your model is not fully Vista or W7 capable.

Here is a driver that will allow you to change the screen resolution and have graphics acceleration but you will not have Windows Aero (one of the reasons the gpu is not fully capable of running W7).

Download and run this graphics driver.  You will most likely get an Unsupported Operating System error.

Close out of any error windows.

http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=447277&swItemId=ob_47264_1&swEnvOid=2094

Go to the device manager and click on the Video Controller needing drivers.  Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.

That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp34749.  Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.  Then reboot.

Audio.  Use the XP driver from your notebook's support page.  You may have to manually install that too. I forget.

Wireless:

Download and unzip the first driver listed to a folder...

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/15798/Intel-PRO-Wireless-Drivers-Only-for-Windows-Vista-

Manually install the driver like you did the graphics driver...just browse to the driver folder you unzipped and the driver should install.

Hi

You need to uninstall all that is listed in your Audio and restart your Notebook. This will install the correct Audio adapter.

Thanks.

Hi ,

Welcome to the HP Forums! I see that you are having a problem with sound. I will be happy to help you with this. First try the built-in Windows Troubleshooter mentioned in this HP document No Sound from Speakers.

Also, look at setting your headphones as the default audio device. This third-party link will show you how to do that. It is for Windows 7 but if you search for Control Panel and then go to Sound it will be the same as the link.

No audio from dv9720us vista

I have reloaded OS (VISTA x64) on my LP.  Device manager indicates no driver installed.  Have downloaded HP driver support apps and they do not find any errors as does several other driver programs that I have tried.  Manually loading RealTek audio drive, which at least loaded, but does nothing; have tried several other applications simply out of frustration with no results at all.

Again out of frustration, I have tried  reloading Vista x32 and x64 bit OS as well as Windows 7 and attempted to load audio drives using those OS....again, everything works except the audio.

Started all of this because laptop system failed to correctly load password profile and I was unable to login to do anything. Audio was working fine up to that point.

I tried all of these and it didn't work.  After looking around some on mycomputer, i relized that my headphones has a mic on it and the computer labels it as a microphone.  I still only get sound out of one speaker.  Any ideas for a solution? thanks!

I figured it out. Beats audio  software had it setup that way by default.
