Hi there

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.

Please post the full product number and verify the operating system in use on your notebook. See the following, if you need help with that information.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?

I understand that you are having trouble with the sound coming from the speakers when headphones are plugged in. I am happy to help.

Start with this page, and make sure that the headphones are the default audio device when plugged in.

Resolving Headphones and Headset Problems (Windows 8)

This covers some of the same but has a few other things you can look at.

How prevent sound from playing through both headphones and speakers - answers.microsoft.com

I hope this helps.

Same problem here.

The speaker volume is almost inaudible but when I plug in headphones my ears are completely blasted if I forget to drop the volume first.

It's insane!

Hi there

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.

I understand that you are getting sound from the headphones/earplugs but not from the system speakers. I am happy to assist you with this.

As the sound is working through the audio jack, I will assume for now that the audio driver is fine. Please check through the following page, which is very comprehensive. If you are still having a problem it is possibly a hardware issue with the speakers.
No Sound from the Speakers (Windows 7)

Let me know if that works for you.

Hi @Mrstenter,

Thanks for replying.

That didn't help. I plugged in my USB Audio Card, and well... It doesn't work too. I don't know why. I checked on Startup Check (f2) and everything is good. I've got a lot of Linuxes on DVD from one of magazines and on Ubuntu sound works great!

I don't know what to do now.

Thanks,

Kuba

I have an HP Chromebook.  The volumn has always been an issue since purchase.  I have done all the volume adjustments but its is very very hard to hear.

How can this be resolved other than adding a speaker system of my own.

 ,

Hello and thank you for posting back.  The first thin you are going to start with is go to this link and download all your software and drivers for your system and Operating System you are running.

HP Pavilion dv7-6b57nr Entertainment Notebook PC - Software & Drivers

Once you have downloaded the drivers for your system and have them safe on a CD or flash drive.  Reboot your system into safe mode.  You will need to do this so that no other drivers or software will be loaded and reduce the chance of conflict.

Entering Safe Mode (Windows 7)

Using Device Manager to Uninstall Devices and Driver Packages

Now once you have uninstalled your sound driver you will want to reboot into windows normally.

Install the driver for your sound device once it has installed reboot one more time.

If this is still correcting the issue the next step would be to do a system recovery.  This will bring your system back to the original system configuration.

Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 7)

I hope this helps you out with your issue.  Please post back and let me know how things go.

Thank you again for posting and have a great day.

DISABLED sounds video game, high definition codec  DRIVER...... REINSTALLED DRIVER   WORKS AGAIN

Sound,Video and game controllers

Hi Guys...not been here for a long time.

In "Device Manager", under Sound, Video and game controllers, the "Bluetooth Audio" has the dreaded yellow triangle and when I open the  device, under status it says..."Windows cannot verify the digital signatur required etc, etc (code 52)"

I have tried to reinstall from HP Recovery Manager, but can not seem to fix the problem. The driver provider states it is Intel Corp, and obviously somewhere in the scheme of things I have corrupted the drivers. When I go to the webpage for the laptop I seem to be unable to locate the correct drivers I need! My Bluetooth mouse works fine.

I tried the "Intel PROSet Bluetooth Driver" which did not help.

If someone could point me in the right direction....Any help would be much appreciated

In anticipation...Thanks

Hi ,

I saw your post regarding the sound coming out of both the speakers and headphones. I will be happy to help you with that. Try setting just the headphones as the default audio device instead of both. Do the headphones you use have a microphone by any chance?
