Unable to find the DTS Audio Control on the PC. Is that right?

Thank you for sharing the issue details. I would like to help you.

I recommend you try to uninstall the audio driver and reinstalling it on the PC using the steps and the link below.

  • Right click on Start button and select Device manager.
  •  Expand the node that “Sound, Video and Game controllers”.
  •  Right-click the device entry which says Realtek, and click Uninstall.
  • On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process.
  • When the uninstall process is complete, restart the PC.

Note With some devices, you might have to restart the system to complete the uninstall process.

The device might continue to function until the system has been restarted.

Then download the latest audio driver for the PC from the below link and install the driver and again restart the PC to check if that works.

As a word of warning about Ubuntu 16.10: gcc/g++ 6.2 defaults to C++14. Now this might sound great because, hey newer stuff is better...right? Nope. gcc 6 support is fragmented across the board, even applications like emacs and the newest linux kernel itself won't compile without some seriously annoying manipulation in Ubuntu 16.10 for this reason. If you are seriously using Ubuntu for something like software development, or for educational use, I would strongly reccommend sticking with the far more stable 16.04 LTS version, which uses gcc 5.4.x. Also...Unity 8 is a complete nightmare in general, when I tested 16.10 originally, I purged all Unity 8 components and stuck with the tried and true customizable and well-supported Unity 7 desktop. If you want to run the newest linux kernel, simply download the correct version from the Ubuntu mainline kernel repository. I'm currently running a patched version of 4.8.7 on Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. Smiley Happy I came across your post and understand that you have an HP ENVY 17-3270NR Notebook. After cleaning the internal part of the unit, i understand the notebook has lost its ability to produce audio. I'd like to assist you with this case.

I suggest you perform the troubleshooting from this link: http://hp.care/2fPox8Q and let me know how it goes. Cheers!

Though this is an old question. I saw it today when I was looking for the solution to the same problem which I experienced in my HP laptop too. These answers are really unhelpful and too tedious without any solution to the problem.

Easy solution: while my laptop was on, I plugged in my headphones. I then switched off the laptop while the headphones were still on. While still shut down I removed the headphones then I turned on the laptop. There, the sound worked. Easy.

Sorry for taking so long do shift work. Tried installing the driver which fails perhaps due to no hardware showing up in the Device manager. it doesnt find the hardware then gives you a dropdown list of different types that where used.

Hi:

If you don't even see a multimedia audio controller (that is what the audio device would be labeled without a driver)  listed in the device manager under an Other Devices category, then most likely the audio chip has died on you.

Not uncommon for that to happen on those dv9xxx models suddenly and without warning.

HP Envy (beats) sound not working Model:15-j057cl

Hello people, I am currently having some audio problem wtith my Hp envy. Back in 2013 while testing some software programs, everything went well; I was playing on an emulator when all of the sudden the audio cut off and has remained like that since. The only things I try to do was to updated to windows 8.1 as it was originally running windows 8, but after a while decided to upgrade to windows 10, as well as downloading drivers in this site which has not worked still. The only way I'm able to hear audio is if I apply my bluetooth speakers but even that the audio cuts off and I dont know if it is the speakers or the laptop. Is there a step by step to follow up and activate the audio? Has anyone had the ame problem with this model of Hp paltop?

A bit early but I'll tell you what is up. Okay, like I said the BIOS update did work...but only for that one session. After turning it off and then on the next day, it reverted back. I did some playing around and I noticed that after I updated my BIOS driver. it worked like normal(audio wise specifically). Any reason why you think it'd do this? I don't mind doing this everyday since it takes around 5-10 minutes for the driver to update but I have heard that every once and a while it can become corrupt and make your computer unbootable. Earlier my computer froze while it was updating the driver, I had to wake an hour or two till the battery ran out.

Okay...something seems pretty dodgey...this might just be a crazy superstition, but the page from the link i posted doesnt have ads that get in the way (turned off adblock for the page) and the page is really straight forward so...seems kinda dodgey...also i never recieved any message from @andymancan about the link besides their most recent one...

This is all just speculation but something dodgey seems to be going on...i mean why hp would sell a laptop with clearly faulty drivers in the first place...definetely would be a good way of making money from people getting replacements, and even that will do nothing, as the issue is software related so it just begins and continues a cycle of repairs and reolacements.

Though this is all just pure, possibly crazy speculation

Hi,

I recently purchased an HP Envy 360. From the very first day I tried to connect my Beats wireless headphones, they have not worked at all... They work will all my other devices apart from a brand new laptop, this doesn't make sense and is highly frustrating as I spent a lot of money on it.

Please can anyone advise as to what to do with regards to this situation.

Thank you

Hp probook 6450b no sound via hdmi cable

Hello,

I have a problem, since i've had a virus on my notebook, i had to re-install windows 10. Everything is working again except when i plug in my hdmi cable it does not recognize the hdmi as a sound output. If i look at my sound devices it says: digital audio (HDMI) not connected. I've tried updating/re-installing my videocard drivers/audiodrivers/ everything i cound think of, but nothing is working. Before the re-install everything worked fine, so i think its a software problem, i just don't know what it is. Can somebody help me out?

Evan
