Re: Hp probook 6450b no sound via hdmi cable

Hi, Evan:

Does your notebook have the Intel HD graphics?

If so, In the device manager, under the sound, video and game controllers device manager category, do you see two High Definition audio devices listed--one IDT HD audio and one Intel HD audio?

Or do you see one IDT HD audio and one generic HD audio device listed.

You're very welcome.

OK, you should be able to fix this problem pretty easily.

Since HP does not officially support your notebook for W10, but the W10 graphics driver works, we are going to add the HDMI audio driver from the W7 graphics driver file on your notebook's support page, without messing with the working W10 display driver.

First, download and install this free file utility.  The 2nd file on the top of the page is for 64 bit.

http://www.7-zip.org/

After you install 7-Zip, download and save but do not run this W7 graphics driver file.

This package provides the Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver with Turbo Boost Technology for the supported notebook models and operating systems.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64001-64500/sp64360.exe

Now that you have downloaded and saved the graphics driver file, right click on it, and select 7-Zip from the list of options.

Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the driver file into its folder file name (sp64360).

Once that is done, go to the device manager and click on the plain High Definition audio device (not the IDT one).

Click on the driver tab, click on update driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder 7-Zip created.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the audio driver should install.

Restart the PC, and you should now have video and audio via the HDMI out port.

i have this same problem, and i have tried all the fixes below. wheni go to install the aclink audio drivers they fail because there is no media device installed in the computer, or it cant locate the device. also tryed to install the conexant HD audio drives as well and the microsoft UAA drivers for audio and nothing there either. this audio worked fine before windows 7 upgrade, i knew there was no driver for windows 7 for this unit and the vista driver fix didn't work either. but it played sound fine with Linux Mint 17.01 an 03 installed so i know it has an audio board init . for some reason no matte what ive done or where ive looked it can't be found, and all driver istalation attemps fail because it say there is no audi device found/installed on the unit ! so ; anyone got any other ideas that no one has tryed yet?

Hello Mezia,

I am sorry for replying so late, and my apologies for the delay. I have been out of station and hence the delay.

Well, if there are no updates , and since it was working fine , we can do this system restore.

So.. turn the computer off, and while turning it On keep pushing F11..

choose the options :  Advanced options/system restore.   OR troubleshoot/recovery manager/system restore.. choose a previous date that is highlighted..

So .. preferably choose the date in the middle of october, if they are there .. and then restart the computer..

I would appreciate the reply on this , and hope that this will resolve the issue..

Thanking you once again for choosing HP,

Regards,

Ashok

Spectre x360 mute light wont come on after update

After updating to Windows 10 anniversary edition, my sound driver updated as well. With that update my led light will no longer come on when I press the mute button. I know its fairly trivial but I just bought this laptop and already got used to it as well so it's quite irritating to have something not working as intended already. Alas it is just a software issue so I hope it can be fixed. I've read multiple forums that says its related to the sound drivers. However I've downloaded and tried all 3 drivers on HP's website and the led light works for none. What other options am I left with?

Hi,

Can you post back with the following details.

1.  The full Model No. and Product No. of your notebook - you can usually get this by holding down the fn key and pressing esc, otherwise see Here for a guide on locating this information.

2.  Hold down the Windows key and press R

Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.

In Device Manager, expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers - what devices are listed here?

Regards,

DP-K

The sound is normal at first but after a few seconds the sound lowers and dispears. this problem does not occur when using a headset. i have no clue what the problem should be.

As far as i know this issue has always been there.

i have already reinstalled the driver with the latest version i could find on the hp support page for this device and installed all the windows updates.

I hope a solution can be found.

Hi ,

Thanks for getting back after trying the steps. Lets try the steps from below and check if it helps.

Remove the headphones. Right click the sound icon bottom right and select playback devices. With the playback properties window still open plug in your earphones and a new item should show up. It might show up as Speakers with gray information underneath. Click on it and make default. Should now disable your speakers.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

Hi there,

Thanks for the prompt reply. As silly as this sounds, the problem seems to have fixed itself. I dont know if it was because of the restarts, because I certainly restarted the machine every time I tried before, but it's working now again with no problems. Not sure why it took so long to work but thanks either way. Sorry for the inconviencnce Smiley Happy
