Hello im having an issue with my laptop (Probook 4520s) before ive installed windows 10 64 bits my integrated speakers is playing the sounds too low, if I put the volume on the max lvl (100%) they sound like 20% of the sound they generated after the upgrade.

Ive tried uninstalling the drivers, use the Enhancements tab, i also instaled other OS like Phoenix and Windows 7 x32.

Other thing ive tried are: HP support assistant, install last Bios upgrade.

Note: i have tested the speakers on other laptop and they sound good. the headphones jack sounds good.

Thanks - but in device driver / sound etc, the drivers listed are Conexant ISST Audio and

Hi ,

I reviewed the post completely. I understand that you are facing crackling sound from the speakers and the Bluetooth headset is not being paired correctly. Brilliant effort, great resolve and tremendous patience were displayed by you to try and resolve the issue. Kudos to you for that. It is greatly appreciated. Smiley Happy As is out of office, I am taking over from here.

This issue could be hardware related. To isolate the issue correctly please perform these steps:

  • This could be hardware related. Please connect a regular wired headset to the computer’s headset port and check if the crackling noise continues with the headset. (not a Bluetooth headset)
  • If it does not crackle, then the speakers are faulty and need to be replaced. For this you need to get the unit serviced by contacting HP phone support by following these steps:

HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true

  • (1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
  • (2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
  • (3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
  • (4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
  • They will be happy to assist you immediately. If the unit is under warranty repair services is taken care of by the manufacturer’s warranty

  • If the headset also crackles, then perform these steps:
  • Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand sound video and game controllers>then select the sound drivers and right-click on it and uninstall the audio drivers. Then check the box that says delete the software for this device.
  • Then restart the computer and update the bios, chipset and audio drivers from this link:  http://hp.com/drivers  please select the country and enter the product# of the computer. Then follow the on-screen instructions and check if the issue gets resolved.

  • If this does not work, please run system diagnostics on the sound card from this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03467259 and follow the steps "Running the UEFI Component Tests" and if it fails, follow the steps to contact hp phone support.
  • For the Bluetooth issue, please try pairing it by following the steps from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03429630
  • Also, try with a different Bluetooth headset if possible as this Bluetooth headset may be faulty.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Please click "Accepted Solution" on the post that solves your issue to help others find the solution. To show appreciation for my help, please click the "Thumbs Up Icon" below!

Cheers Smiley Happy

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. Smiley Happy

Hello,

I am not opposed to trying this out but I am curious as to why the HP Pavilion laptop did not initially come with CHIPSET because it seems to me the the general response to this issue from myself and other posts, is to uninstall REALTEK.  Why does it have REALTEK if it is not functioning properly?

Hi,

This is largely a peer to peer forum and I don't work for HP - as your notebook is only a few months old, you could always Contact HP Support if you prefer, although I've found that the procedure I detailed previously usually corrects the issue you describe in your initial post.

Your notebook will have shipped with the chipset drivers installed, I'm just suggesting a reinstall of the latest version before loading the new Realtek software.

The Realtek software package provides the audio driver for your notebook in addition to the B&o interface.

Regards,

Dear HP Support team,

Is there a known fix for this issue already?

I have the same laptop, bought also in August 2016, and the same issue.

I have tried following the troubleshooting steps described in the thread, but the download link is not working.

I will appreciate any help you can give, as it has become extremely annoying to have to reboot every hour or so to get the sound to work.

Thanks.

how do you hide the bang and olufsen toolbar on a zbook

Some how I launched a bang and olufsen B&O toolbar. It hides parts of my screen that I need, and I never ever need to use it. I need it gone. Shrinking it down is not enough, rolling over it expands it again and then it's in the way again.

Hey there!

I understand you have audio issues when playing games, after updating your PC to Windows 10.

Don't worry I'd like to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?

Please provide the product number of your PC to assist you better.

Try uninstalling the audio driver from device manager and install the audio driver using HP recovery manager.

Refer this article to know how to install the drivers using HP recovery manager.

Also, try the steps recommended below.

The audio troubleshooting tool in Windows can automatically fix common audio recording and audio playback problems with your computer. Run the troubleshooting tool using the following steps:
Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Troubleshoot sound problems.
Select the device you want to troubleshoot and click Next.
Wait while the troubleshooter detects problems and makes changes (or prompts you to make changes).
When the troubleshooter is done, the Troubleshooting has completed page is displayed, listing any problems found and what changes were made to the computer.
   NOTE:
For detailed information about the troubleshooting, click View detailed information in the troubleshooter window.
Click Close.
If a recommended action is displayed, select Apply this fix or Skip this step to continue to search for other problems.

Refer this article to further troubleshoot audio issues with your PC.

I'll keep an eye out for your response.

I hope you have a great day! Smiley Happy

Sound stops working

More often than not, the speakers do not work on my computer. I have to reboot my machine and then they will work for a short period of time and then stop working. I have to reboot my machine in order for them to work again....and only for a short period of time. I have run the diagnostics and it just runs for ever w/o producing any results.

High Definition Audio Device wont start. (Code 10)

Hello,

I have faced this problem just last month. What happens is I am using my notebook as per usual, when I used it again the audio wasn't working. I can see that the volume mixer is working perfectly fine, green bars of audio level are visible indicating sound is working but I still don't get any audio. Last time I fixed the issue by completely formatting my C drive and installing Windows 10 from a bootable drive. This time I don't want to go through that hassle again.

This time I have checked the Device Manager and found High Defition Audio Device with the yellow marker. The error it is giving is,

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

{Operation Failed}
The requested operation was unsuccessful.

Please if anyone can help me I will be utterly grateful because I don't want to reinstall my windows once again.

Many Thanks,

Saad

Have you tried right clicking it and Uninstall? Next, right click "Audio Outputs and Inputs" and select "Scan for hardware changes".

Btw-have you checked your model's Support page for Windows 10 drivers?

Get your full Model number or Product number from the Service Tag attached to bottom of laptop (may be under battery)> https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108

Once you have the info, use the button at top of this page titled "Support", then click "Software and Drivers" from the menu. On the next page enter your Model Number. After entering  click 'Find my product' button. On the next page be sure correct OS is selected-if not click Change to edit .A list will populate with drivers/software.

Yes I have tried unistalling it. It just reinstalls automatically and still has the yellow marker.

I already have the IDT High Definition Audio driver installed that is available on the support page. For an extra measure I uninstalled the current driver and installed it again from the support page but still there is no audio.

I have also attached a photo for better understanding. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you installed Intel Graphics as well as Nvidia? The Intel driver includes the HD audio driver.

What is the Product Number of your Envy?

When listening to music or Netflix through the speakers it just seem too low. Through headphones it's really loud and clear. All drivers are up-to-date, audio driver is Conexant ISST Audio version 9.0.140.1, driver date 5/14/2017.

I can't find any control panel to adjust the output, everything seems like it's maxed out in the speaker properties but in a normal office setting I can't listen to video presentations and we're not allowed to have earphones on.

I apparently have the Bang & Olufsen control panel installed but it won't open.

Sorry didn't read your message and went to sleep.

I did install the Intel Graphics driver but it still doesn't work.

I finally got tired of trying to find a solution so I decided to reinstall my windows as previouly that trick worked. Unfortunately this time even after installing all the proper drivers my sound is still not working. The sound mixer shows sound is being produced but unfortunately no sound.

I am starting to believe this may be a hardware problem not a software problem. Thoughts?
