I chatted w/ Taniya today via the HP support assitant app and she was able to help fix the issue. She sent the following link after our chat. See below. She was amazing by the way, very professional and did a fantastic job.

This email is a follow-up to our recent Chat interaction. I am Taniya from HP Chat Support Team following up on our recent interaction.
As per the chat discussion we had, I understand that you were facing issues with the computer.

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your getting issues with the beats audio after Windows 10 update. I understand that you prints appear faint, and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,

Uninstall the beats audio driver and reinstall it.

Refer the document to uninstall the driver. Click here.

Install the below driver.

sp63555.exe download this driver and install it.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.

Useless to try to down load movies for a trip. Can't hear anything with or without head phones.  Have gone to tablet settings to increase all the way up. Nothing. Have a 7 hour flight soon. Desperate to fix before then. Lol

Main Speakers on Laptop stopped working after Windows update

I updated Windows last night after repeated annoying pop-ups, mostly to get it to just stop.

After the update, the main speakers (the ones above the keyboard) no longer work at all.  The sound still comes out of the tiny speakers on the bottom of the laptop, so please do not provide a link troubleshooting why my laptop is not playing sound - it IS playing sound, but not on the primary speakers.  These speakers worked just fine yesterday before the system update.

All drivers are up to date, all settings are normal.  The Beats software that came with the computer has mysteriously disappeared but that's probably an issue for another day.  When I troubleshoot the audio, it says everything is working fine (it clearly isn't).

I just want ALL of my speakers to work like they did before this stupid update.

Popping short noise through headphone before play any sound (brand new HP 13-s128nr with Realtek

EDIT: Have fixed the popping issue by switching the Realtek driver for the Microsoft generic driver, however, the speakers are now quieter and the quality is no where near as good as it was under the Realtek/DTS Sound stuff. Quality through headphones is the same just without that stupid popping.

Instructions for the switch are on this thread:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/Popping-short-noise-through-headphone-before-play-any-sound/m-p/5981212

Not happy though, seems I can only have either good speakers and awful headphone experiance or below average speakers and a good headphone experience. Going to look for some sort of equilizer that works with the Microsoft driver, if such a thing exists... That might put things right. If not, HP and/or Realtek need to sort themselves out big time!

Original post below:

Also having this problem on my new HP notebook 15-ay106na. This was quite a difficult subject to track down via internet searches as nearly all the results I am getting are about different audio issues.

Like others, this only occurs when using headphones and I can't hear the popping noise through the speakers (which are actually pretty good IMO). I cannot put up with this though, the noise is so loud sometimes it actually hurts... My laptop has DTS Audio Control installed and also the Realtek High Defination Audio Device (both stock software).

I've had Realtek sound stuff in the past and never had anything like this! Sometimes the power savings they put in these machines go way too far, this one is beyond a joke. Seeing how old this thread is, I'm guessing HP don't care too much about what is, I think, quite a serious problem?

Greetings

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.

I understand that you are not getting any audio from the speakers or headphones, is that right?

Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps on your own?

Request you boot the computer to system diagnostics by tapping F2 repeatedly on startup. Click here

Run an audio test from the system diagnostics to make sure the speaker is working fine.

If the speaker does not work in system diagnostics, please contact our phone support for the service options available for your computer.

If the speakers work in system diagnostics, please try the steps suggested in this HP Article

Hp Elitebook 840 G4 with HP ultraslim docking station, tinny sound no bass

$

I have recently started using an 840 G4 with an ultra slim HP docking station. As with all of the HP elite books I have had, the sound on the docking station audio out jack is terrible at first. On my 8470P the trick was to turn off audio enhancements in the SRS control panel. On my 840 G3 the trick was to turn off audio enhancements on the playback devices-speakers-enhancements tab.

On this G4 that option is missing from the enhancements tab, the option is also missing from the B&O control panel tab.

I tried calling HP support and removing and installing drivers. HP's website lists a driver that is version 11, when I install the package linked there, I get ver 10. Seems like the download package linked on their website is not what it is labeled to be. HP support says they can't help with any software issues, only hardware issues...

Can't seem to find a fix at all other than to not use the headphone jack on the docking station, which defeats the whole purpose of the docking station!

Any help would be appreciated!

Screen shots of my speaker properties and the B&O software with no way to turn off the "enhancements" feature are below.

Thanks!

Hi:

That is the Intel HD audio driver that needs to be installed.

You will have to manually install the W7 intel HD audio driver as follows...

1. Download and install this free file utility.  The 2nd link at the top of the page is for 64 bit.

http://www.7-zip.org/

2. Download and save, but do not run the W7 Intel graphics driver from your notebook's support page.

This package provides the Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver with Turbo Boost Technology for the supported notebook models and operating systems.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64001-64500/sp64360.exe

After you save the above graphics driver file, right click on it, and select 7-Zip from the menu.

Have 7-Zip Extract to:  And let it extract the file into its folder name (sp64360).

Once that is done, go to the device manager.  Click on the HD audio device that needs the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder 7-Zip created.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.

Then restart the PC.
